JOB SUMMARY

The Rotating Equipment Engineer will support oil and gas, power generation, and gas compression operations in Alaska. This role is responsible for troubleshooting, reliability improvement, maintenance and overhaul support, and engineering stewardship of turbines, compressors, generators, pumps, engines, and associated balance-of-plant systems. They will bring strong field experience, sound engineering judgment, a practical safety mindset, and have the ability to work effectively with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, original equipment manufacturers, and contractors in remote and fast-paced operating environments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Provide technical support for gas and steam turbines, centrifugal and reciprocating compressors, generators, pumps, diesel engines, mechanical-drive equipment, and associated auxiliary systems.

Troubleshoot production- and reliability-impacting equipment issues; perform field assessments, root-cause analysis, and development of practical short- and long-term corrective actions.

Develop equipment maintenance strategies, inspection scopes, repair plans, overhaul specifications, and engineering work packages based on condition, operating history, criticality, and OEM recommendations.

Plan and provide technical oversight for outages, shutdowns, startups, commissioning activities, turnarounds, equipment installations, major inspections, and return-to-service activities.

Support power generation and gas compression systems, including load and capacity evaluations, equipment optimization, obsolescence planning, and reliability improvement initiatives.

Coordinate with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, vendors, OEMs, and contractors to resolve equipment problems and execute repairs, modifications, upgrades, and replacement projects.

Perform or review equipment alignment, vibration and condition-monitoring data, performance trends, lubrication and seal-system issues, and mechanical integrity findings.

Prepare and review technical specifications, bid evaluations, calculations, repair recommendations, inspection reports, failure reports, and management-of-change documentation.

Apply applicable company requirements, OEM standards, and industry codes and standards, including relevant API, ASME, and ASTM requirements.

Support equipment risk assessments, spare-parts strategies, preventive and predictive maintenance programs, and lifecycle planning for critical rotating equipment.

Provide field leadership and technical direction while maintaining safe work practices, quality control, regulatory compliance, and clear communication of equipment status and risks.

Mentor engineers and technicians and share rotating equipment, power generation, gas compression, outage, and troubleshooting best practices

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline; equivalent relevant technical and field experience may be considered.

Minimum 7+ years of relevant experience supporting rotating equipment in oil and gas, power generation, petrochemical, utility, pipeline, or heavy industrial facilities.

Demonstrated experience with gas or steam turbines, centrifugal or reciprocating compressors, generators, pumps, diesel engines, or mechanical-drive systems.

Working knowledge of rotating equipment maintenance, overhaul practices, equipment alignment, vibration or condition monitoring, lubrication, seals, and failure analysis.

Experience supporting power generation, gas compression, facility utilities, or balance-of-plant systems is strongly preferred.

Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, equipment drawings, data sheets, OEM manuals, inspection reports, and maintenance records.

Experience planning or executing shutdowns, startups, commissioning, turnarounds, equipment installations, or major overhauls.

Familiarity with applicable API, ASME, ASTM, OSHA, and other relevant industry and regulatory requirements.

Experience working with multidisciplinary teams, OEMs, vendors, contractors, and operations and maintenance personnel.

Experience in remote, Arctic, or North Slope operating environments is preferred.

Strong written and verbal communication, organization, troubleshooting, and field leadership skills.

Valid driver's license; ability to travel to field locations and work in remote facilities and extreme weather conditions.

WORKING ON THE NORTH SLOPE

While working on the North Slope of Alaska, your lodging and food will be provided to you. All camps provide warm meals and options to grab a quick lunch or snack from the spike rooms. Rooms vary from single status to shared rooms where your roommate may work the opposite shift. Wi-Fi and Internet is free and available within the camp. Services vary depending upon where you are staying; however, most facilities offer housekeeping, self-serve laundry, commissary, mail, gyms, TV/Theater Room, etc. Each facility will have its own accommodation and policies that will be reviewed upon on-site orientation.
