Full Job Description
As a Robotic Integration Engineer (FANUC, PLC, Vision), you will lead the design, programming, and commissioning of industrial robotic systems (primarily FANUC) in a dynamic machine integration environment, contributing to innovative, custom equipment builds at Arnold Machine. This onsite position works closely with project teams in a hands-on role focused on real-world system integration. The ideal candidate has experience taking systems from quote to build through robot related controls hardware specifications, drawings, debug, startup, and customer acceptance. The Robotic Engineer reports to the Electrical Engineering Team Leader and receives project direction from the Project Managers. It is the Robotic Integration Engineer's responsibility to effectively support multiple project teams as needed, complete work to specification within required timeframes, and assist with the development and training of new team members and work study students.

Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and debug robotic automation systems (assembly, material handling, paint) from concept through final customer acceptance.
  • Program FANUC robots including TP programming, frames, tool setup, and I/O configuration
  • Integrate robotic systems with PLC (Allen-Bradley/Siemens), HMIs, and industrial networks.
  • Commission and troubleshoot industrial vision systems (Keyence, Cognex, or equivalent).
  • Support manufacturing startup, debug, and validation at Arnold Machine and in customer environments.
  • Troubleshoot real-world issues including mispick, placement error, sensor noise, and process variation.
  • Support sales and quoting by developing equipment concepts, robot selection, and cost estimates.
  • Create robot schematics, bills of materials, purchased component selections, and final project documentation.
  • Specify and layout robots, end-of-arm tooling, cable management, and related components.
  • Perform studies, preliminary engineering, and troubleshooting using RoboGuide for new installations and modifications.
  • Provide field support, including installation, startup, and final tuning.
  • Collaborate with management, sales, mechanical and electrical engineering, manufacturing, and clients.
  • Manage multiple projects in a fast-paced integration environment and work independently within cross-functional teams.
  • Support marketing and business development by maintaining client relationships and identifying new opportunities.

Requirements:
  • Minimum 3 plus years of experience working with industrial robot integration in a manufacturing or automation setting.
  • Experience taking automation systems from build through debug and customer acceptance.
  • Familiarity with robot simulation/offline programming tools (such as RoboGuide).
  • Hands on experience integrating robots with PLCs (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, IO Mapping, and Debug)
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings.
  • Experience with system startup, commissioning, and troubleshooting in manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of robot safety standards and safe work practices.
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel as needed (approximately 20-40% workload dependent).
