Full Job Description
We are seeking a Roadway Engineer/Project Manager to support planning, design, and delivery of transportation infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with project managers, technical staff, and clients to develop innovative and practical transportation solutions while contributing to project quality, schedule, and budget goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, manage or lead technical aspects of small to medium single-discipline projects or large, routine projects
  • Independently coordinate work of professional staff and balance team throughout entire project's development
  • Establish client relations, and be involved with marketing, contractual, design and production meetings
  • Participate in reviews with various governing agencies for compliance
  • Conduct work sessions for design development and contract document in conjunction with other staff
  • Coordinate workload through entire project development, and ensure completion of documents on schedule
  • Track financial aspects of projects, or specific tasks, and coordinate and adjust work effort with team to ensure that work is completed within parameters of agreed-to schedule
  • Work with Business/Accounting Manager or Project Controller and Department Manager for project reviews and with company management as needed
  • Serve in a technical design lead on the engineering development of urban and rural highway/roadway projects
  • Oversee the work of CAD Designers, and possibly other EITs
  • Prepare detailed engineering designs for roadway and highway projects
  • Participate in activities ranging from site feasibility analysis to final design and support through the construction phase
  • Perform quality control reviews and support continuous improvement initiatives
  • Perform other duties as needed


Preferred Qualifications

  • A minimum of 7 years' experience in transportation design and project development.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience using Civil 3D (preferred) or OpenRoads Designer (ORD)
  • PE license in Montana or ability to obtain through reciprocity.
  • Local candidates preferred.

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Previous experience in all aspects of roadway engineering design
  • Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example: Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license.
  • Hands-on experience with Highways and Roads CAD engineering software such as Bentley ConceptStation and Open Roads Designer and/or Autodesk Infraworks and Civil3d
  • MS Office knowledge
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Experience should include urban and rural highway interchanges, intersection design, traffic management, transportation planning, site planning, preparation of concept alignments, geometrical layout and CAD base alignment plans
