DESCRIPTION

The Multispecialty Clinic at East Campus Medical Center provides ambulatory care in the following specialties; Urology, Orthopedic, and Minimally Invasive Surgical Services, including urologic care, orthopedic visits, injections, wound care, X-ray, ultrasound and endoscopic procedures. The wide variety of patients makes working in the Multispecialty Clinic both rewarding and challenging.

Autonomous nursing care is the ability of a nurse to assess and provide nursing actions as appropriate for patient care populations based on competence, professional expertise, and knowledge. The nurse is expected to practice autonomously consistent with ANA Standards of Practice and Professional Performance. Independent judgment is expected to be exercised within the context of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches to patient care. All performance expectations associated with this position are performed at the PRACTITIONER Level.

This position will report directly to the Multispecialty Clinic Manager at the East Campus Medical Center and will be responsible for but not limited to providing direct patient care, including supporting clinic flow and throughput for a high-volume clinic, assisting with procedures, administering medications, providing patient education, running independent nurse clinics that require assessment and critical thinking.

This RN will also provide coverage for sick calls, vacation, and messaging coverage for the clinic team. The RN needs to have strong clinical and communication skills to collaborate and coordinate with multispecialty health care teams in ensuring optimal care for patients and families in a busy outpatient clinic. Must have the ability to provide an excellent experience for our patients, providers, and team members.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be a graduate from an accredited school of Nursing.
  • RN License issued by the State of California.
  • BLS/CPR certification at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire.
  • Three (3) years of nursing experience in a large complex healthcare or clinic setting.
  • One (1) year of nursing experience in ambulatory care setting.
  • Knowledge and nursing experience in one or multiple areas: Urology, Orthopedics, Minimally Invasive Surgery, Cardiology, GI.
  • Demonstrates critical nursing thinking and clinical skills to identify and implement nursing interventions and evaluate results in a Urology, Orthopedics, and/or Minimally Invasive Surgery clinic setting.
  • Ability to take initiative, prioritize critical demands, exercise independent judgement and work in a team environment.
  • Knowledge and training in patient care, environmental care functions, medication/supplies/equipment supply management.
  • Knowledge of universal precautions, and body mechanics.
  • Knowledge and experience with EPIC and online scheduling.
  • Must be able to function in a fast-paced environment, have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and consistently demonstrate empathy and kindness to all staff and patients
  • Previous experience with triage/telephone triage.
  • Ability to perform triage and handle critical and/or urgent situations with accuracy, expediency and speed, accuracy and tact.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • BSN.
  • Recent (within the last 3 years) RN experience in Urology, Orthopedic or Minimally Invasive Surgery is preferred.
  • Strong clinical experience for urologic conditions (catheter changes of all types, medication administration, independent assessment and triage, supporting urologic procedures, etc.).
  • CURN (Certified Urology Registered Nurse).
  • ACLS and/or ART certification.
  • Previous role as Charge nurse or Resource Nurse.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to work various hours, days, shifts, on-call and locations based on the 24-hour Medical Center's business needs.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
  • Selected candidate may be hired at the CNIII level pending review and approval by the Nurse Executive Council.
Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $138,330 - $193,892 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $66.25 - $92.86
