DESCRIPTIONThis RN will serve as an ECT Coordinator, supporting the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of the ECT program. Responsibilities include coordinating complex patient scheduling; tracking required medical clearances and specialty consultations; facilitating patient education and treatment preparation; monitoring consent completion; and serving as a liaison between patients, providers, procedural teams, and ancillary departments. The RN will assist in optimizing workflows, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting continuity of care for patients receiving interventional psychiatric treatments.
As a vital member of the outpatient psychiatry team, the RN will work closely with psychiatrists, clinic leadership, and interdisciplinary care teams to coordinate and support specialized psychiatric treatment services. Under the guidance of the attending psychiatrists and Clinic Manager, the RN will be responsible for managing in-basket messages within scope of practice, responding to symptom escalations and triage calls, monitoring medications, supporting safe medication practices, and providing crisis intervention utilizing compassionate, patient-centered communication. The RN will also receive training and provide clinical support for interventional psychiatry services, including Spravato (esketamine) administration, Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), and other specialized psychiatric treatment modalities offered within the clinic, ensuring adherence to established protocols and patient safety standards.This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, clinical judgment, and the ability to manage complex patient populations across multiple stages of treatment. Required travel between UC San Diego Health sites, including Hillcrest, La Jolla, Rancho Bernardo and East Campus.
Autonomous nursing care is the ability of a nurse to assess and provide nursing actions as appropriate for patient care populations based on competence, professional expertise, and knowledge. The nurse is expected to practice autonomously consistent with ANA Standards of Practice and Professional Performance. Independent judgment is expected to be exercised within the context of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches to patient care.
While not required, a cover letter is highly recommended when applying to this position.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS- Must be a graduate from an accredited school of Nursing.
- RN License issued by the State of California.
- BART or BLS certification at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.
- Minimum one - two years Psychiatric RN experience within an ambulatory or inpatient setting.
- Case management or care coordination experience involving patients with complex behavioral health and/or medical needs.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS- BSN.
- Two years working with psychiatric patient populations.
- Experience with interventional psychiatric treatments, including Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT), ketamine, and Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS).
- Experience coordinating patient care for complex psychiatric and medical populations.
- Experience scheduling procedures and coordinating multidisciplinary treatment plans.
- Experience tracking medical clearances, referrals, authorizations, and other pre-procedural requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to optimize clinical workflows and improve operational efficiency within an outpatient setting.
- Experience with Epic EMR.
- Previous UC San Diego Health experience.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English

Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $138,330 - $193,892 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $66.25 - $92.86
