Job SummaryCardiac Catheterization Lab Pre and Post Registered Nurse is responsible for providing quality care to patients during the pre and post cardiac catheterization in accordance with department and hospital policy. The RN plans, directs and coordinates the pre and post care of the cardiac catheterization patient. The RN performs procedures such as TEE, Cardioversions and Loop recorders. Coordinates care with providers on the inpatient and outpatient services.
Duties & Responsibilities- Prepares patients for a cardiac catheterization and EP cases. Reviews health history and medications.
- Notifies Cardiac interventionalist of any concerns with the patient.
- Cares for the Post Op cardiac catheterization and EP patients.
- Interprets 12 lead EKG.
- Performs TEE, Cardioversions and Loop recorders according to hospital policy.
- Proficient in all clinical systems and data entry.
- Ensures individual patient's rights including the right to confidentiality, privacy, dignity, safety, and comfort.
- Respond to cases of cardiopulmonary arrest, fire, disaster, or other emergencies in accordance with established procedures.
- Assume responsibility for own professional development, setting goals and striving to achieve them through available resources, such as attending seminars, in services and/or reading journals.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
RequirementsBSN preferred and a minimum 3 years of direct experience caring for cardiac patients such as CCU or dedicated cardiac floor. ACLS certification required. Proficiency in 12 lead EKG interpretation required. RI State RN Licensure required.
The job is typically required to perform work through eye/hand/foot coordination most of a normal workday.
