A career in our Risk Modelling Services team as a Property & Casualty (P&C) Actuary, will provide you with the opportunity to contribute risk modelling, general insurance advice and consulting services to clients across all sectors. You'll provide advice covering solvency, economic capital, risk management, mergers and acquisitions, company restructuring, financial modelling, new legislation, and the efficiency of claims or reporting processes. You will also have the opportunity to provide oversight on risk modelling for emerging risks like climate and cyber. Our team helps insurers address financial reporting requirements by assessing the financial and business impacts of regulations, building implementation plans, and implementing relevant requirements, particularly across areas of financial reporting change.

P&C Actuarial Services at PwC offers consulting services to insurance companies, reinsurance companies and government agencies, as well as audit support for many insurance entities. You will work directly with our experienced actuaries and risk professionals on a wide range of projects and apply your experience in the insurance industry to a multitude of actuarial solutions. The Opportunity

As a Risk Modelling Services, Actuarial P&C Director, unlock your potential and embrace the chance to drive meaningful outcomes that'll elevate your career. Your role will include, but isn't limited to:

  • Lead, manage and grow our Quebec P&C Actuarial Services team, including team development, client service delivery and business growth
  • Provide Appointed Actuary and audit services including IFRS 17 actuarial liability valuation and Financial Condition Testing
  • Advise clients on a broad range of strategic and technical matters, including product development, pricing, mergers and acquisitions and other advisory services
  • You will proactively collaborate with the leadership of our Canadian P&C Actuarial practice by setting strategy, driving the development of new business and new services in the market, and providing technical advice across disciplines
  • Building strong networks within PwC to spot and capitalize on opportunities to get involved in projects across a number of different business units and sectors
  • Identifying key client issues and translating them into meaningful opportunities
  • Building and maintaining client relationships.Manage and deliver large projects by developing the project team, assessing engagement risks throughout, driving conclusions, and reviewing / challenging the output produced by the team
  • Responsibility for management of engagement financials
  • Leverage technology, analytics and AI to deliver forward-looking solutions to clients
  • Recruiting and managing P&C actuarial staff


What You'll Bring

  • Considerable experience in corporate actuarial valuation services (Valuation/Reserving, Financial Reporting, Capital Analysis, and Financial Condition Testing)
  • Extensive experience managing an actuarial function or service, including staff and financial metrics
  • Qualified Actuary ( Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries)
  • Experience with product development and pricing, including new and emerging modelling and techniques
  • A proactive, autonomous working style with the ability to take ownership, develop plans, and execute successfully
  • A demonstrated commitment to valuing differences, developing and coaching diverse teams, and ensuring diverse perspectives are heard
  • The successful candidate requires fluency in English, in addition to French as they will be required to support or collaborate with English-speaking clients, colleagues and/or stakeholders during the course of their employment with PwC Canada
