Position Summary
The Town of Breckenridge is seeking a qualified and dedicated individual for the position of Risk Manager.
The Risk Manager develops, administers, and manages the Town of Breckenridge's comprehensive Risk Management Plan, including property, casualty, liability, insurance, claims, and loss prevention programs. This role identifies and evaluates risks to Town operations, assets, property, and the public, and recommends strategies to prevent, reduce, transfer, or finance those risks. The Risk Manager oversees the Town's property and casualty insurance program, liability and property claims, automobile and fleet-related exposures, incident investigations, loss recovery, subrogation efforts, certificates of insurance, insurance renewals, and risk-related contractual requirements. The position also administers the Town's workers' compensation program and serves as a key resource to departments and leadership on risk mitigation, insurance coverage, claims resolution, and loss prevention.

The Risk Manager works collaboratively with Town leadership, attorneys, departments, insurers, third-party administrators, and other partners to protect Town assets and minimize financial and operational exposure. The role requires strong independent judgment, analytical skills, discretion, and the ability to manage sensitive and complex risk and claims matters.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree (or higher) from an accredited college or university in risk management, business administration, finance, insurance, public administration, safety or a related field is required.
• A minimum of four (4) years of progressively responsible professional experience in risk management, insurance, claims administration, loss control, property and casualty, or a related field.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Municipal or governmental risk management, claims, insurance or public agency experience preferred.
• Experience administering property, casualty general liability, automobile, workers' compensation or similar insurance programs preferred.
• Experience investigating claims and incidents and working with insurance carriers, third-party administrators, adjustors, and legal counsel preferred.
• Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.

LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES REQUIRED:

• Valid Colorado Driver's License required within 30 days of hire.
• Associate in Risk Management (ARM), Certified Risk Manager (CRM), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or relevant professional certification preferred.

Additional Information
Hiring Pay Range: $3,600.00 - $4,261.54 bi-weekly, $93,600 - $110,800 if annualized.
Full Pay Range: $3,600.00 - $4,923.08 bi-weekly, $93,600 - $128,000 if annualized.
