Overview

Bowhead is seeking a Mid-level RF Engineer to support the Advanced Hypersonics Weapons and Guided Munitions Division (E20).

The Mid-level RF Engineer serves as a scientist/engineer who is expected to develop technology through experiment and a statistical analysis of target vulnerabilities. The successful candidate will lead testing, experiment development, and data acquisition. The position will interface with technical personnel from various external groups and organizations to identify problems, suggest changes, and develop and document final solutions for systems. The position will also be responsible for presenting test reviews and technical briefs.

Responsibilities
• Development of requirements, design, and execution of tests in support of E20 projects
• Design, construction, test, and analysis of components, test fixtures, systems, etc.
• Support development of design of experiment and data analysis for various types of testing
• Develop test reviews, technical briefs, and progress updates for leadership
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
• Bachelor' s degree
• Ability to operate effectively while working independently and or with others in a very dynamic and fast paced environment with continuously evolving requirements and schedules
• Ability to integrate and coordinate technical efforts
• Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing to a variety of audiences
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.
• Demonstrated ability to perform analysis and problem solving techniques necessary to execute professional scientific/engineering work
• Experience developing technical briefs

Qualifications and Competencies Desired:
• Ability to design RF receiver chains to condition signals specifically for Software-defined radio (SDR) reception and processing using antennas, amplifiers, transmission lines, filters, and downconverters
• Familiarity with scattering parameter measurement of RF subsystems using network analysis
• Ability to conduct RF impedance matching utilizing Smith chart applications
• Understanding of antenna technologies, feed methods, and impact of physical installation on antenna performance
• Understanding of RF propagation to conduct link budget calculations
• Familiarity with RF modeling and simulation

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must currently have a security clearance at the Secret level with the ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance.

Physical Demands:
  • Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds
  • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
  • Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically

Targeted salary range is $110,000 to $120,000 annually based on qualifications and experience.
