Senior Audit Accountant is responsible for performing and managing audit and accounting engagements for a variety of clients, with an emphasis on financial statement audits, reviews, compilations, and related accounting services. This position works closely with managers, partners, and clients to ensure engagements are completed accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with applicable accounting and auditing standards.
The Senior Audit Accountant will have significant responsibility for planning and executing audit procedures, analyzing financial information, identifying risks and discrepancies, preparing workpapers, and communicating findings to both internal teams and clients. This role is ideal for an experienced accounting professional seeking to grow within a public accounting firm and take on increasing responsibility.
Essential Functions:- Plans and performs audit, review, compilation, and other accounting engagements in accordance with professional standards and firm policies.
- Prepares and reviews audit workpapers, financial statements, supporting schedules, and other engagement documentation.
- Performs substantive and analytical audit procedures to evaluate account balances, transactions, internal controls, and financial reporting.
- Analyzes financial statements and supporting documentation to identify unusual trends, discrepancies, risks, and potential adjustments.
- Assists with engagement planning, including understanding client operations, assessing risks, and developing appropriate audit procedures.
- Performs testing of cash, accounts receivable, inventory, fixed assets, liabilities, revenue, expenses, equity, and other significant accounts.
- Evaluates internal controls and documents business processes and control procedures as appropriate.
- Prepares proposed adjusting entries and communicates accounting and audit issues to engagement managers and clients.
- Researches accounting and auditing matters and assists with the application of GAAP and applicable professional standards.
- Communicates directly with clients to obtain requested documentation, resolve questions, and discuss engagement-related matters.
- Assists managers and partners with complex accounting and auditing issues and special projects.
- Reviews work performed by staff accountants and provides coaching and guidance to less-experienced team members.
- Assists with preparation and review of client financial statements and related disclosures.
- Develops and maintains strong professional relationships with clients and serves as a trusted resource for accounting and financial reporting matters.
- Identifies opportunities to improve engagement efficiency, client service, and internal processes.
- Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.
- Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
- Complies with all firm policies, professional standards, and applicable regulations.
Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
- 3-5 years of recent public accounting and audit experience preferred.
- Experience with financial statement audits, reviews, and compilations.
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and auditing standards.
- Experience working with multiple clients and managing competing deadlines.
- CPA license or active CPA candidacy preferred; CPA required within an agreed upon timeframe if applicable.

Licenses and Certifications:- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred or required within an agreed-upon timeframe.
- CPA candidates actively pursuing licensure are encouraged to apply.
Compensation: $90,000 - $95,000
Salary is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications.
