Full Job Description
Role Overview:

The Retail Marketing & Merchandising Project Manager is the connective tissue between Turtlebox's Sales, Marketing, and retail partner teams. This role owns the creative and logistical execution of in-store merchandising - fixtures, planograms, point-of-purchase (POP) displays, and endcaps - for a retail footprint that spans independent dealers and predominantly big-box, national accounts. You'll translate brand direction into retailer-ready artwork and fixture designs, manage those programs from concept through in-store execution, and act as the primary point of contact keeping retail partners, sales, and marketing aligned and moving on schedule.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary cross-functional liaison between Sales, Marketing, and retail partner teams on all in-store merchandising and retail marketing initiatives.
  • Own end-to-end creative development and production for retail fixtures, planograms, POP displays, and endcap programs - from initial concept through final in-store installation.
  • Partner with national account managers to understand each retailer's specific merchandising standards, submission requirements, and compliance processes
  • Collaborate with the brand/creative team to ensure all retail-facing artwork and materials reflect Turtlebox's brand identity and current marketing campaigns.
  • Develop and refine planogram recommendations that optimize shelf space, product assortment, and sell-through for each retail partner.
  • Manage timelines, budgets, and vendor relationships for fixture fabrication, printing, and POP production, keeping programs on schedule and within budget.
  • Build and present merchandising concepts, mockups, and fixture proposals to retail buyers, category managers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Support new product launches with retail-ready merchandising toolkits, including launch fixtures, shelf talkers, endcap kits, and sell sheets.
  • Conduct store walks and audits to evaluate in-store execution, identify gaps, and recommend improvements.
  • Track project status, budgets, and retailer feedback across multiple concurrent programs, and report progress to Sales and Marketing leadership.
  • Travel to retail partner headquarters, distribution centers, store locations, and industry trade shows as needed.

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience in retail marketing, trade marketing, merchandising, or visual merchandising, ideally supporting big-box or national retail accounts.
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Design, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and managing retail fixtures, planograms, POP displays, and endcap programs from concept through execution.
  • Direct experience working with major retail accounts - sporting goods, outdoor, or big-box retail strongly preferred
  • A strong creative eye and comfort partnering closely with designers; working proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with planogram software (e.g., Blue Yonder/JDA, Spaceman, Nielsen) is a plus.
  • Proven project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple concurrent programs, vendors, and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Excellent relationship-building and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across sales, marketing, retail partners, and outside vendors.
  • Experience managing outside vendors and production partners (fixture fabricators, printers, POP suppliers).
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically (approximately 20-30%).

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

  • Approximately 20-30% travel, including retailer HQ visits, store walks, and trade shows
  • When not traveling, this role will be 5 days in-office in Houston, TX
  • Occasional lifting and carrying of up to 30lbs
  • Frequent walking, standing and sitting is required

Why Join Turtlebox?:

  • Be part of a fast-growing premium outdoor audio brand with strong momentum in wholesale and D2C.
  • Coworkers who are as passionate about music and adventure as you are.
  • Thrive in an entrepreneurial culture with room for creativity, ownership, and innovation.
  • Complimentary lunch every day.
  • 12 annual holidays plus Paid Time Off.
  • Comprehensive health benefits & 401k matching.
  • Awesome discounts to complete your Turtlebox collection!
