Full Job Description
JOB MISSION:

The New Balance Retail Financial Analyst will bridge the gap between retail store operations and retail finance by driving inventory control and delivering payroll and SG&A analysis. This role helps protect the bottom line, reduce financial risk, and provide district and regional leaders with the insights needed to make informed, data-driven decisions. The position works cross-functionally with Store Managers, Retail Operations, Sales Planning, Marketing, and Merchandising to support financial decision-making, operational execution, and continuous process improvement.

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Inventory Control & Reconciliations: Coordinate, reconcile, and finalize retail store physical inventory counts; review material discrepancies and provide variance insights to support timely resolution.
  • Invoice & Dispute Resolution: Investigate aged or unmatched inventory invoices and PO variances, partner with cross-functional teams, and resolve processing delays.
  • Payroll Analysis: Execute and maintain recurring payroll reporting, ensuring timely and accurate metrics are provided to stakeholders to support labor budgeting, trend review, and decision-making.
  • SG&A Analysis: Audit SG&A expenses, monitor variances against forecast, and identify unusual activity or trends requiring follow-up with retail leadership.
  • Month-End Close Support: Complete required month-end close activities, including journal entry submission, ledger analysis, account review, and follow-up on variances or reconciling items.
  • Leadership Reporting: Prepare and distribute performance, visibility, and exception reporting to regional leadership, highlighting key trends, financial risks, and opportunities for operational improvement.
  • Finance Liaison & Store Support: Serve as a finance liaison to train store associates, reinforce process understanding, and resolve inventory issues, system errors, and operational questions in partnership with store and field leadership.


REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESS:
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
  • 2-4+ years of experience in finance or accounting; retail industry experience is a plus.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge and experience with Oracle Cloud, Microsoft D365, Spotfire, and Power BI.
  • Self-driven with a strong work ethic, organization skills, and reliability.
  • Sense of urgency with the ability to adapt in a fast-paced retail finance environment.
  • Team player with the ability to build impactful relationships with peers, store teams, and cross-functional partners.
  • Analytical Thinking: Demonstrates strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to investigate missing line items, unexplained variances, and recurring process issues.


Lawrence, MA Corp Only Pay Range: $70,600.00 - $90,500.00 - $110,400.00 Annual (actual base pay varying based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, internal equity, geographic location, and more.)
