Passion, Respect, and Excellence, the Respiratory Therapist provides skilled assessment, treatment, and education to residents requiring respiratory support across the care continuum.
Responsibilities for Respiratory Therapist:- Perform comprehensive chest assessments and respiratory examinations for a diverse resident population.
- Consult with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to develop, evaluate, and modify individualized treatment plans.
- Perform diagnostic testing, including lung capacity measurements and evaluation of blood gas levels.
- Administer respiratory therapies, including oxygen therapy, aerosol medications, and chest physiotherapy.
- Manage and monitor ventilator-dependent residents, including initiation of ventilator support when necessary.
- Conduct regular monitoring of residents' respiratory status and ensure proper functioning of respiratory equipment.
- Educate residents and families on respiratory treatments, equipment use, and medication administration.
- Maintain accurate documentation of treatments, assessments, and resident progress in accordance with clinical standards.
Qualifications for Respiratory Therapist:- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care required.
- Current state licensure required.
- Minimum of 3 years of respiratory therapy experience preferred.
- Experience with tracheostomy care and ventilator management in a skilled nursing facility, LTACH, or hospital setting required.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively engage residents, families, and clinical teams.
