Full Job Description

GFT is seeking an experienced Resident Engineer - Wastewater to join our Construction Services team in Stafford County – Fredericksburg area. This is a full-time, onsite opportunity to lead wastewater projects, ensuring quality, safety, and efficiency in the field.

 

What you’ll be challenged to do:

 

As a Resident Engineer, you will lead projects consisting of the construction of new and renovation or replacement of wastewater infrastructure including treatment facilities, pump stations, and collection systems including mechanical, electrical, plumbing and process controls and flood protection. 

 

In the capacity, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Provide Quality Assurance and technical guidance
  • Review/Approve monthly pay estimates with Contractors
  • Prepare/Review correspondence to and from the Contractors and owner
  • Schedule and oversee testing agencies
  • Oversee maintenance of project records
  • Facilitate response to contractor Requests for Information
  • Coordinate equipment and facility start-up activities
  • Conduct and/or facilitate construction meetings
  • Coordinate and manage inspectors and on-site personnel
  • Prepare/Review change order documents
  • Assist Document Control staff with Contractor schedule compliance
  • Prepare progress reports Prepare Substantial and Final Completion documents

What you will bring to our firm:

  • 10+ years construction experience with wastewater treatment plants
  • Effectively and responsively communicate verbally and in writing with all project and team members (i.e., contractors, owners, sub consultants, designers, architects and fellow team members)
  • Experience with various collection and conveyance pipe projects
  • Skilled at reading and interpreting plans and contract specifications Ability to safely navigate construction work sites with varying and uneven terrain  
  • Stand and sit as needed on project work sites, climb ladders, work at heights, and work outdoors in a wide range of weather conditions, periodic weekend and night work may be required
  • Effectively utilize computer systems and software for documentation and data management like Procore
  • Read, analyze and evaluate construction schedules
  • Must possess OSHA 10-hour or OSHA 30-hour certification or the ability to obtain within 3 months of hire

What we prefer you bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related discipline preferred
  • PE Preferred;  CCM desirable
Compensation:The salary range for this role is $130,000 - $150,000.
