Resident Network Engineer

This role has been designated as 'Remote/Teleworker', which means you will primarily work from home.

Job Description:

Join a dynamic team in the enterprise sector of HPE Networking and work alongside the best and brightest in the networking industry. You will be responsible for working side-by-side with supporting the customer's operations.

The Resident Network Engineer is an integral part of our mission within the enterprise sector, providing pre and post-sales support for HPE Networking products. You will be part of a customer account that has experienced high, steady growth over the past few years. As a Resident Network Engineer, you will be the trusted advisor to our customers supporting our mission to help them quickly and completely adopt our portfolio of products. This is a highly technical role, and you will develop and maintain expert-level skill sets on our products and solutions deployed within the customer's environment.

This is a US based telework position.

Role Responsibilities:
  • To hold network information gathering workshops with the Customer to understand the Customer's existing network design and technical requirements of new network designs.
  • To understand the Customer's organizational structure and become familiar with the Customer's network implementation and support processes and procedures to help in supporting a network that is available and sustainable.
  • To carry out testing of new Designs, features, and functionality as required by the Customer in a laboratory environment and to help develop plans to implement and verify that they are operating correctly in the live network.
  • To test patches and fixes to operating software and to ensure that they are implemented and functioning correctly in the pre-production test network and then live network as implementation plans dictate.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and network problems and open and track JTAC cases to resolve problems on pre- and post-production issues.
  • To raise equipment, Return Material Authorizations (RMA's) and to track these through to problem resolution
  • To produce a written summary report of the status of Design projects, equipment and network problems regularly to the Customer
  • To hold technology workshops with the Customer to discuss equipment and network problems, and to provide case status updates, including the reasons for any problems encountered and the workarounds and/or solutions that are being tried
  • To train the Customer's design, implementation, and support personnel to configure and operate the HPE Networking products
  • To assist the Customer in developing Network Operating and Equipment Operating Procedures
  • Support the production environment of products within the Customer infrastructure
  • Support ongoing efforts in defining best practice policies for product applications used by Customer Business Use Only
  • The Resident Network Engineer is expected to peer with other employees performing similar resident engineering roles where lessons learned may help minimize risk associated with major network upgrades or changes in the network.


Requirements:
  • 6+ years of design, implementation, and operational experience in large-scale IP networks.
  • JUNOS CLI experience.
  • Must have large-scale experience with Juniper hardware (ACX, EX, QFX and Mist Wireless products)
  • EVPN-VXLAN Campus and Data Center Juniper switching fabric (spine-leaf) experience
  • Apstra experience for configuring, managing switching fabrics
  • Extensive Mist Wireless and Wired experience
  • Good verbal and written communication and documentation skills
  • Experience with core routing BGP, OSPF protocols.
  • Experience with design and/or deployment of switching and wireless products within the Customer infrastructure.
  • Mist Wired assurance ideal
  • Ability to communicate effectively in crises with all levels of an organization from Engineering/Operations to CIO/CISO audiences.
  • Ability to refine and translate complex requirements and execute best practice solutions.
  • Assisted with major network upgrades, maintenance windows, and changes in the customer network.
  • Strong customer interface and presentation skills.
  • Customer education - TOI's and Lunch & Learns.
  • Other tasks and duties as needed to support the customer and/or business
  • Expert-level Technical Certifications: JNCIS, JNCIP, JNCIE, CCNP, and CCIE a strong plus.
