Full Job Description
Based in New York, the Research Technology Librarian is responsible for the administration, maintenance, and optimization of the RIM department's library systems and resource platforms. This role serves as the primary liaison between the RIM department and IT, managing system upgrades, enhancements, integrations, and troubleshooting. The Research Technology Librarian also leads analytical reporting on resource utilization, cost-recovery, and collection performance to support data-driven decision-making by RIM leadership. The candidate should possess a keen interest in innovation and technology This role reports to the Subscriptions Manager. Responsibilities include: • Serves as the primary RIM liaison with IT for all library systems and technology platforms, including system upgrades, enhancements, integrations, and issue resolution. • Evaluates and supports integration of GenAI research resources, partnering with IT and vendors on pilots and rollouts. • Administers and maintains Quest as the department's centralized research request and operations platform, ensuring optimal configuration, user access, and workflow integrity. • Administers and maintains Onelog and other electronic resource management systems, ensuring accurate records of licenses, registrations, renewals, and access. • Produces analytical reports on electronic resource utilization, cost-recovery, and collection performance; provides interpretation and strategic recommendations to RIM leadership. • Assists with resource purchasing, registrations, renewals, password maintenance, and copyright compliance for database and electronic resources. • Collaborates with vendors to maintain seamless access to subscription resources and manages license terms related to electronic resources. • Coordinates training for attorneys and staff on research resources, systems, and technology platforms. • Stays abreast of new products and services; attends demos, participates in trials, and prepares resource assessments and recommendations for RIM leadership. • Maintains documentation for library systems and ensures alignment with department SharePoint and intranet resources. Qualifications: • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. • Excellent oral and written communication skills. • Strong level of attention to detail and accuracy. • Service-oriented team player with the ability to interact with individuals at all levels of the organization and provide platinum client service. • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously while meeting deadlines and business objectives. • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid team environment. • Ability to solve problems and work well under pressure despite strict deadlines. • Familiarity with GenAI tools and their application to legal research technology a plus. Experience: • Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree in Library Science (MLS) or equivalent preferred. • 5+ years of related experience in a law firm or professional services organization. AmLaw 100 law firm experience preferred. • Demonstrated experience administering library systems and/or research request management platforms; experience with Quest a plus. • Strong analytical skills with demonstrated ability to produce and interpret utilization reports, cost analyses, and data-driven recommendations. • Experience working with IT teams on system integrations, upgrades, and troubleshooting. • Ability to identify complex problems, make decisions, and implement effective solutions. • Ability to work independently, determine priorities, and coordinate workflow effectively. • Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to effectively present information to attorneys, staff, and leadership. • Strong level of attention to detail and accuracy. • Process-oriented with strong technical acuity. • Ability to adapt quickly and effectively to shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment. • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite products, particularly Excel and SharePoint. Compensation & Benefits: The annual compensation range for this position is $90,000 - $115,000. The salary offered within this range will depend upon qualifications and other operational considerations.
