Full Job Description
Required Qualification: (as evidenced by an attached resume)
Doctoral degree (or foreign equivalent) in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or Life Sciences, or closely related field. Three years of research experience in biological sciences, to include at least one year of research experience following attainment of a Doctoral degree or foreign equivalent. Record of publication in major peer-reviewed journals. Experience with Single cell DNA, RNA/ATAC sequencing and related computational analyses. Experience with biochemical characterization of signaling pathways, 3D spheroid and Organoid culture. Experience with high resolution imaging with immunofluorescence, confocal microscopy, and time-lapse microscopy. Experience with mitochondrial biology with bioenergetics and omics and data interpretation.

Preferred Qualification:
Experience and record of obtaining NIH grants (such as K22 or R01 grant) within the past 10 years. Experience of project management.

Primary Purpose:
Stony Brook University has a position of Research Scientist in the Department of Radiation Oncology in close collaboration with Stony Brook Cancer Center. The department has ongoing research in radiation effect of tumor microenvironment of glioblastoma and prostate cancer in relation to stereotactic radiosurgery and SBRT treatment as well as proton beam. The incumbent will develop, design, and run research experiments and ensure that all research protocols follow the policies and procedures of Stony Brook University. The Research Scientist will be responsible for the operations of the lab.
• Develop and design research experiments in the field of biomedical research. Conduct research experiments utilizing specialized techniques, applying theories, concepts, and principles in the field of cancer biology.
• Responsible for the overall management of the lab, may supervise postdoctoral associate and research support positions. Will teach medical resident physicians with cancer biology and experimental concepts. Will provide training on specific specialized skills and research methods and is responsible for the operation of the lab.
• Prepare manuscripts for publications in peer reviewed and/or scientific journals.
• Prepare grant proposals; apply for grants, to include writing proposals for the research projects, identifying funding sources, and training opportunities.
• Other duties as assigned.
