The Research Operations function within The US Oncology Network partners with practices, Practice Management functions and leaders, and our strategic research partner organizations (e.g., Sarah Cannon Research Institute) to support and grow oncology clinical research programs in our partner community oncology practices.
The Research Finance Operations Analyst supports research finance operations across The US Oncology Network to ensure accurate, compliant, and timely research billing operations. This role addresses financial queries related to research billing, supports the development and maintenance of research billing guides, including amendment research billing guides, and contributes to the creation and upkeep of related finance resources and documentation. The role partners with cross-functional stakeholders to drive issue resolution, operational consistency, and compliant research billing processes.
The ideal candidate will be organized, detail-oriented, and service-focused, with strong analytical skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities. Success in this role requires effective communication, collaboration across teams, and the ability to support research finance operations through timely follow-up, issue resolution, and consistent execution.
Key Responsibilities:
• Support research finance operations by performing financial analysis, reporting, and day-to-day operational activities related to oncology clinical research programs
• Maintain research finance team operational and workload tracker, and drive data review with team to support program operations
• Own resolution of assigned financial and research billing queries related to research billing, independently resolve routine issues and escalate issues as appropriate to ensure timely follow-up
• Analyze research billing inquiries to identify root causes, recurring trends, and opportunities to reduce rework or prevent future issues then recommend process improvements
• Own development, revision, and maintenance of research billing guides, including amendment research billing guides, and related finance documentation
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams across Operations, Finance, Compliance, Revenue Cycle, and practice-facing stakeholders to support compliant research billing processes and operational consistency
• Other duties may be assigned as needed to meet Company goals
Requirements
Education:
• Minimum of a Bachelor's degree, preferably in Finance, Accounting, Business, Healthcare Administration, Clinical Operations, or a related field
Experience:
• 4+ years of relevant experience in research finance, clinical research operations, healthcare finance, revenue cycle, or a related field. Experience supporting research billing processes is preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail; ability to review financial information, identify discrepancies, and support resolution of research billing and operational issues
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Word. Experience working with reporting tools, financial trackers, and clinical research or billing systems is preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly summarize findings, respond to inquiries, and work effectively with cross-functional stakeholders
• Foundational understanding of clinical research operations and regulations, including Good Clinical Practice, HIPAA, and research billing compliance concepts; familiarity with CMS and NCCN guidance is preferred
• Organized, dependable, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrates initiative, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a team.
