Full Job Description
Parkview Health Services and Informatics Research (HSIR) team at Parkview Health is seeking a Research Data Engineer to support its growing research enterprise. This role is critical to transforming raw health related data into actionable insights through scalable pipelines, robust APIs, and well-documented data models. This role requires a significant set of technical skills, including a deep knowledge of SQL database design, Python, and/or R. The ideal candidate has strong experience in database design, software development, and data engineering best practices. Additionally, this individual will actively contribute to a collaborative and professional work environment, sharing knowledge and providing support to team members to drive innovation and excellence in healthcare. Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain scalable data pipelines and integrate APIs to support increasing data volume and complexity.
  • Integrate structured and unstructured healthcare data from multiple sources, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
  • Optimize database performance and develop efficient data storage strategies for large-scale datasets.
  • Perform data validation, cleaning, and transformation to ensure high-quality analytics.
  • Collaborate with the Business Intelligence team to improve data models for HSIR projects and support data-driven decision-making.
  • Create documentation for all processes to support continuity and redundancy.
  • Present analytical outcomes in a manner appropriate for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Partner with research staff to execute projects efficiently and effectively.
  • Contribute to scientific writing, including manuscripts and formal reports.

Education & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Science, Mathematics, or a related field required.
  • Master's degree preferred.

Experience
  • 3+ years of SQL experience.
  • 3+ years of knowledge of database management systems (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Snowflake, etc.).
  • 3+ years' experience with scripting languages like Python or R.
  • 2+ years of software development experience.
  • Experience with version control systems (Git) and CI/CD pipelines for data deployment.
  • Experience working with EHR data, clinical trial datasets, or population health data is preferred.
  • Experience on developing mobile app is a plus.

  • Proficiency in object-oriented programming and software architecture.
