Overview

This research position will be responsible for managing all aspects of this ongoing study for the Pediatrics Diabetes research team, including study performance, regulatory documents, database management, maintenance and entry. Additionally, this position will work closely with the supplier of the study drug and clinical team to follow procedures and provide progress reports. 

The Research Coordinator will be integral in the recruitment and follow-up of patient participants.  Work within a highly collaborative team to complete studies to advance care for patients.

Required Skills and Abilities

1. Prior experience with clinical trials, with demonstrated ability to function as a collaborative member of a clinical research team and communicate well with participants and families. 

2. Demonstrated excellence in organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to mult-task.

3. Demonstrated work experience with  IRB processes and amendments.

4. Ability to walk between medical school locations; reliable transportation to travel between various sites.

5. Demonstrated experience solving problems, taking initiative, and working independently. Excellence in working with patients or customers. Strong verbal and written communication.

Preferred Skills and Abilities

1. Experience with use of electronic medical records for research including eligibility screening based on inclusion/exclusion criteria and critical evaluation of patient information, and data extraction for study purposes; experience with IND studies and managing regulatory documents.

2. Phlebotomy certification; Bilingual in Spanish and English; willingness to become certified in medical interpretation for Spanish speaking individuals; prior experience with data collection and database management. 

Principal Responsibilities

1. Compares protocols and sponsored projects to confirm consistency between funding proposals/awards and approved protocols. 2. Documents established congruency between funding proposals and approved protocols. 3. Facilitates and/or assists with resolution of any inconsistencies between funding proposals and approved protocols. 4. Serves as a liaison between the Grants and Contracts offices, investigators, and business managers to resolve congruency issues in a timely manner. 5. Attends meetings and presents issues when necessary that were identified during congruency review. 6. Serves as a resource and provides technical assistance to investigators and their staff. 7. Provides analytical and technical support related to establishing and recording protocol/grant congruency, as needed. 8. Monitors federal and state regulations for new guidance, updates, or policies. Maintains a high degree of knowledge on these requirements to determine actions and follow directives that may be required to ensure University compliance with congruency review and reporting requirements. 9. Develops, implements, and manages internal practices that ensure compliance with federal requirements. 10. May perform other duties as assigned. Required Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in a relevant academic/scientific field and a minimum of 3 years of related research support experience; or the equivalent combination of education or experience.
