The base salary will be $76,490 - $109,190 per annum. Starting salary will be aligned with the successful candidate's experience, skills, and demonstrated qualifications.

ResponsibilitiesThe Research Associate will apply their advanced expertise in neuroimaging research to support and advance human ultra-high field MRI and functional MRI (fMRI) research programs under the direction of a Principal Investigator. The role will independently lead and carry out original research activities to support project objectives and achieve desired research outcomes. The Research Associate will play a key role in developing, implementing, and optimizing MRI and fMRI protocols, ensuring the quality and integrity of research data, and providing expert guidance on imaging methodologies, software, equipment, and study design. The position will foster collaborative relationships with researchers, clinicians, staff, students, post-doctoral fellows, and external partners, and will take a lead role in training, mentoring, and supervising research personnel. The Research Associate will participate in all stages of the research lifecycle, including study development, protocol design, participant recruitment support, data acquisition, analysis and interpretation, and the evaluation of research outcomes. The role will develop and implement innovative research approaches, establish research objectives and project plans, oversee the use of specialized MRI equipment and neuroimaging methodologies, and contribute to the advancement of the laboratory's research program. The Research Associate will prepare manuscripts for publication, present research findings at conferences and scientific meetings, contribute to grant and research development activities, and develop reports and other scholarly materials for dissemination to academic, clinical, and other stakeholders.
QualificationsEducation:
- PhD in Medical Biophysics, Biomedical Engineering, Neuroscience or relevant discipline
- Postdoctoral research training in neuroimaging, MRI/fMRI, neuroscience, medical imaging, biomedical engineering, or a related field preferred
- Specialized training in MRI safety, neuroimaging methodologies, image processing, and advanced statistical analysis preferred
Experience:
- 5 years of experience in a related academic research environment with an independently developed research portfolio
- Experience designing, implementing, and optimizing MRI and/or fMRI research protocols
- Experience independently analyzing and interpreting complex neuroimaging and research datasets
- Experience working directly with research participants and/or patients in a clinical or research environment, including participant interaction, study procedures, and research data collection
- Experience training, mentoring, and providing technical guidance to students, postdoctoral fellows, and research staff
- Experience preparing peer-reviewed publications and presenting research findings
- Postdoctoral research experience in neuroimaging, neuroscience, biomedical engineering, medical imaging, or a related field preferred
- Experience working collaboratively within multidisciplinary research teams preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Advanced knowledge of MRI, fMRI, and neuroimaging methodologies
- Advanced skills in software and applications used to produce and analyze research outcomes including statistical analysis skills with familiarity with SPSS or Prism, and neuroimaging analysis software and strong programming skills using Python and MATLAB
- Knowledge of research ethics and human participant research requirements
- Familiarity with regulations and guidelines governing research ethics in an academic environment and with best practices for reviewing and writing grant proposals
- In depth knowledge with methods for research design, implementation, and analysis
- Familiarity with techniques for updating, managing and extracting data from a research database
- Ability to collaborate across internal and external boundaries to meet common objectives, improve outcomes and support work beyond one's own unit
- Communication skills to describe technical concepts effectively to both novice and sophisticated users and with an ability to conduct presentations and complete detailed analytics and reports
- Ability to work in a manner that models best practices in confidentiality standards
- Detail-oriented with an ability to function and process information with high levels of accuracy
- Ability to work within a flexible schedule to accommodate the research group's events and activities
- Ability to provide guidance, support and feedback in a way that is positively received
