What is the Opportunity?

Research Associate responsible for fundamental analysis of companies in the Biotechnology sector

What will you do?
  • Develop an expertise in the Biotechnology sector
  • Assist in the development and detailed modeling of company specific financial models
  • Coordinate, generate and maintain research reports, presentations and databases
  • Provide research support to analyst as required
  • Incumbent is in the process of developing core Research Associate skills
  • Support and answer client queries as they relate to the sector
  • Proactively identify operational risks/ control deficiencies in the business
  • Review and comply with Firm Policies applicable to your business activities
  • Escalate operational risk loss events, control deficiencies and risks that you identify to your line manager and the relevant risk and control functions on a timely basis.


What do you need to succeed?

Basic Qualifications
  • PhD, MD, or similar advanced degree in life sciences field relevant to therapeutics
  • FINRA Licensing Requirements - Series 7, 63, 86 & 87, SIE


Other Required Qualifications:
  • 1-2 years of work experience in a non-academic setting such as biopharma industry/drug development, life sciences consulting, or investment banking is a plus
  • Familiarity with accounting and financial modeling
  • Previous exposure to the biopharmaceuticals sector
  • Efficient writing capabilities
  • Strong computer skills (Excel) with ability to quickly learn new platforms
  • Detail oriented with solid analytical skills and ability to synthesize data points into trends beyond the mainstream
  • Energetic, self-motivated and an ability to perform under pressure and meet time sensitive deadlines, sometimes for extended periods of time
  • Demonstrated passion for equity/financial markets
  • Prior sell-side equity research experience in biotechnology, pharma, or specialty pharmaceuticals is a plus
  • Good understanding of financial/stock market
  • Knowledge of Wolters Kluwer software and IMS are a plus

  • Internal clients including sales and trading
  • External clients as required


WORKING CONDITIONS
  • The work environment is based on a office/trading floor, thus little physical effort is required

The good-faith expected salary range for the above position is $100,000 - $160,000 depending on factors including but not limited to the candidate's experience, skills, registration status; market conditions; and business needs. This salary range does not include other elements of total compensation, including a discretionary bonus and benefits such as a 401(k) program with company-matching contributions; health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance; and paid time-off plan.
