Full Job Description

We're looking for a reporter to dig into the biggest tax stories affecting multinational companies. Tax is central to the strategy of every major company across the globe—from big tech to manufacturing. You’ll write daily stories to longer-term enterprise diving into legal and regulatory changes, build sources across industry and regulatory spaces, and collaborate with reporters and editors in Washington and London.

The right candidate has experience covering business or economic issues, a track record of developing sources and breaking news, and a desire to be at the center of the major decisions and challenges facing multinationals.

What you will do:
  • Produce stories with compelling leads, nut graphs, solid framing,and diverse sourcing that can be published with minimal editing
  • Breakexclusives, whilecultivating sources, developing story ideas, and conducting probing interviews.
  • Leveragein depthknowledgeof federal and state legislative, regulatory, and judicial processes.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on topic, multimedia and graphics teams as well as work independently.
  • Serve as asubject-matter expert andresource for more junior reporters throughout the newsroom.


You need to have:
  • Bachelor’s degree with coursework in English or journalism preferred.
  • 7 years’ experience in journalism, including at least one year reporting on legal, tax, or government topics.
