Title: Reliability Engineer - Turbine Generator SME
Location: Freeport, TX

Salary: $150,000 - $185,000
Schedule: 5-8s or 9/80s

Focus: The Reliability Engineer - Turbine Generator SME is responsible for increasing the reliability of the Power 6 Production Unit by applying reliability principles, existing knowledge of turbine equipment, and various reliability tools to identify solutions for the top reliability opportunities in the production unit. The primary goal of this role is to assure the assets' ability to run, eliminating reliability and availability losses. This role works with a cross-functional team to perform all turbine work on both gas fired and steam driven turbines-generators and ancillary equipment. This role will collaborate with Maintenance Engineers (MEs), Production Engineers, Plant Operations personnel, Improvement Engineers, Site Maintenance personnel, and others to identify methods to increase power output via better operations, improved design or addition of new assets.

Reliability Engineer - Turbine Generator SME Essential Responsibilities:
  • Resolves gas and steam turbine operation and turbine reliability issues. Monitors operational data of the units to determine the recommended maintenance intervals for turbine-generator assets within the unit.
  • Provides equipment subject matter technical expertise and oversight during operations, turnarounds, and unplanned outages helping to generate repair plans and quality control plans to drive improvements. Interacts with the Turbine Technologist and Turnaround Resources to perform gas/steam turbine/generator work during turnarounds, pit stops, and significant unplanned outages.
  • Provides technical direction in creation and review of procedures, plans, and other front end loading activities for maintenance and turnarounds.
    • Lead in selection of resources with Turbine Technologist and the Turnaround group for borescope inspections (BI), combustion inspections (CI), hot gas path inspections (HGP), minor inspections, and major inspection (MI) overhauls of unit gas and steam turbine-generators
    • Recommends repair facilities for refurbishing or replacing stationary and rotating equipment, defines the hardware work scope, oversees vendor site work and acceptance of refurbished equipment
  • Utilizes Root Cause Analysis methodology to perform effective problem analysis and root cause elimination; evaluate solutions for leveraging across the company


Reliability Engineer - Turbine Generator SME Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree* in Engineering; Mechanical Engineering preferred
  • 10+ years maintenance/reliability experience
  • 10+ years experience with gas and steam turbines-generators; GE and Westinghouse preferred
  • Basic understanding of project management, instrumentation and equipment. Strong analytical skills and strategic thinking, solid team player with the ability to communicate across the organization
  • SAP experience preferred
  • Prior Olin experience in a relevant position preferred
  • Must be able to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) and possess a valid US Driver's license
