Job Overview:

Reliability Engineer I

POSITION SUMMARY:

Premier PV is seeking a Reliability Engineer to support the development, validation, and continuous improvement of the reliability of our electronic Balance of System (eBOS) product portfolio. This role partners closely with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, and Product teams to execute reliability testing, analyze product performance, identify failure mechanisms, and support corrective actions throughout the product lifecycle.

The ideal candidate has a strong technical foundation, enjoys hands-on testing and data analysis, and is passionate about improving product quality and long-term reliability.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Reliability Testing & Analysis

  • Execute reliability testing for new and existing eBOS products.


  • Assist in developing reliability test plans based on product requirements and design risks.


  • Perform environmental, mechanical, thermal, and electrical testing using laboratory equipment.


  • Analyze reliability test results and document findings using statistical methods.


  • Maintain detailed testing documentation, reports, and test records.


Product Reliability

  • Support product qualification activities during new product development.


  • Assist in identifying failure modes and recommending corrective actions.


  • Participate in failure analysis investigations for manufacturing and field-returned products.


  • Support Design and Manufacturing teams in implementing reliability improvements.


  • Monitor reliability metrics and identify trends that impact product performance.


Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Product Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain teams.


  • Participate in Design Reviews, DFMEAs, PFMEAs, and manufacturing readiness activities.


  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to product quality and reliability.


  • Coordinate testing activities with external laboratories as needed.


Documentation & Continuous Improvement

  • Prepare technical reports summarizing testing results and recommendations.


  • Maintain reliability databases and testing records.


  • Support development of standard work, testing procedures, and best practices.


  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts that reduce warranty claims and improve product durability.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or related technical field.


  • 2-5 years of experience in reliability engineering, quality engineering, product validation, or testing.


  • Experience with laboratory testing equipment and data collection.


  • Knowledge of reliability principles, statistical analysis, and failure investigation.


  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.


  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.


  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in solar, electrical products, power electronics, or manufacturing.


  • Familiarity with DFMEA, PFMEA, or Root Cause Analysis.


  • Exposure to UL, IEC, or NEC standards.


  • Experience using statistical software such as JMP, Minitab, or similar.


  • Understanding of accelerated life testing concepts.
