Full Job Description
TTM is seeking a Reliability Engineer to support the development of reliability program plans, implement reliability tasks, and perform and present a broad range of analyses including reliability predictions and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA). Supplemental responsibilities span across maintainability, component engineering, safety, Integrated Logistics Support (ILS), and component failure analysis disciplines, making this a dynamic and well-rounded engineering role.

Must have a background that would permit the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) to issue a Secret Clearance, which includes US Citizenship.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Support the development and implementation of the reliability engineering program plan to ensure full compliance with customer specifications and contractual requirements. Under the guidance of a senior reliability engineer, serve as a contributing member of the reliability team, maintaining coordination with cross-functional disciplines and assisting in customer-facing reliability activities for all assigned programs.
  • Work collaboratively within a team environment to support assigned programs, contributing reliability expertise across all phases of the product development lifecycle.
  • Perform reliability predictions (MTBF Assessment) on a variety of systems and units, ranging from non-repairable simplex models to complex fault-tolerant repairable systems, utilizing applicable methodologies such as MIL-HDBK-217 and other industry-recognized standards.
  • Facilitate Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) processes on assigned programs, working cross-functionally with engineering, production, and supplier teams to ensure timely identification, resolution, and closure of reliability-related issues.
  • Perform circuit and part tolerance analyses involving multiple variables to assess design margins and identify potential vulnerabilities under worst-case operating conditions.
  • Prepare and deliver customer data items and reliability deliverables in accordance with contractual CDRL/SDRL requirements, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and on-time submission.
  • Conduct and participate in formal and in-house design reviews, providing reliability assessments and feedback on component selection, design architecture, and risk areas.
  • Develop and document reliability test procedures including HALT, HASS, and environmental stress screening plans. Monitor test activities, evaluate results, and report findings to program teams and customers.
  • Analyze in-house and field failure data to identify trends, determine root causes, and recommend appropriate corrective actions. Maintain and manage the FRACAS (Failure Reporting, Analysis, and Corrective Action System) and DMR (Discrepancy/Material Review) database to ensure accurate tracking and closure of failure events.
  • Support maintainability and testability analyses, safety assessments, Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) activities, and component failure analyses as supplemental responsibilities to the primary reliability engineering function.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across multiple engineering disciplines, program management, customers, and vendors to convey complex reliability concepts clearly and professionally.
  • Proficiency in PC-based environments including access to network drafting records, engineering databases, and procurement systems.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access) with the ability to organize, analyze, and present reliability data effectively. Familiarity with specialized reliability and product lifecycle management tools such as Windchill and SiliconExpert, or equivalent. Experience with writing Excel macros is a plus.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, scientific and technical journals, test reports, and contractual documents written in English.
  • Basic understanding of reliability engineering principles including reliability prediction methodologies, FMEA/FMECA, fault tree analysis, and failure data analysis techniques.
  • Familiarity with applicable military and industry standards such as MIL-HDBK-217, MIL-STD-882E, MIL-STD-1629A, MIL-STD-785, and MIL-STD-756, and their application in a defense or aerospace environment.
  • Understanding of FRACAS processes and the ability to accurately document, track, and analyze failure data to support root cause investigations and corrective action closure.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, managing multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and quality of work.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets, identify trends, and develop actionable recommendations.
  • Must be eligible for a U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance; U.S. Citizenship required.
