Where You Will Work

Located approximately 50 miles northeast of Safford, Arizona on U.S. Highway 191, Morenci operations (an open-pit copper mining complex) has been in continuous operation since 1939. The operation consists of two concentrators, crushed-ore leach pad and stacking system, a low-grade run-of-mine (ROM) leaching system; four SX plants; and three EW tank houses that produce copper cathode.

What You Will Do

  • Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures and assist in the identification and implementation of corrective actions or technologies.
  • Consider cost impact for recommended action plans for correcting downtime issues on installed equipment.
  • Ensure continuous production is uninterrupted by equipment failures.
  • Reports on Key Performance Indices.
  • Analyze current CMMS data for equipment health indicators and prepare reports.
  • Perform onsite evaluation of existing processes and equipment and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Perform other duties as required.


What You Bring To Freeport

  • Bachelor's degree in an appropriate Engineering discipline with no experience required.
  • Working knowledge of MSOffice suite including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Project.
  • Knowledge and understanding of good engineering practices and principles.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Self-starter with solid integrity.
  • Understand the importance of safety, legality and quality.


Preferred Qualifications
• Reliability Engineering experience through internships, co-ops, academic projects, or industry experience.
• Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance principles.
• Experience analyzing equipment failures and using data to support reliability improvements.
• Familiarity with CMMS systems such as SAP.
• Experience with vibration analysis, thermography, oil analysis, or other condition monitoring technologies is preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Mining, mineral processing, heavy industrial, or manufacturing experience preferred.

What We Offer You

The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently $75,000-$104,000. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors.
