Summary:
This job is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Health Information Management (HIM) Department and for serving as a daily advocate for the customers served by the HIM department, and for overseeing the coordination of service delivery.
Responsibilities:
* Knowledge of medical record practice, policies and procedures, general medical records maintenance, and knowledge of applicable TJC standards, as well as federal and state laws and regulations.
* The ability to hear and communicate with others in a clear, understandable and professional manner on the phone and in person, as well as demonstration of good written and verbal communication skills.
* The ability to interact with peers, executive and medical staff and other customers in an effective manner that positively represents Children's Health System of Texas.
* Evaluates the impact of innovations and changes in programs, policies and procedures.
* Recommends new and revised procedures to ensure the proper collection and maintenance of medical information to ensure compliance with regulatory and legal requirements.
* Manage workflow among all staff to ensure maximum productivity and quality standards are met. Prioritizes work to ensure completion of HIM functions.
How You'll Be Successful:WORK EXPERIENCE
- At least 5 years Supervisory experience, project management, or coding/data integrity required
- Previous HIM and Release of Information experience preferred
EDUCATION
- Four-year Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a healthcare profession required
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
- Registration as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or comparable certificate required upon hire
