Role OverviewLooking for a strong Release Engineer / Platform Engineer to support an enterprise infrastructure modernization initiative focused on migrating environments from RHEL7 to RHEL9. The role involves platform modernization, containerization, CI/CD automation, package engineering, and security/vulnerability remediation.
Key Responsibilities 1. OS Migration & Package Engineering
Execute migration of applications/services from RHEL7 to RHEL9
Resolve binary compatibility and library dependency issues
Build and compile open-source packages from source code
Troubleshoot package and dependency-related issues
Manage lifecycle of RPM packages
2. Containerization & Orchestration
Refactor legacy container workflows from Docker to Podman
Architect and maintain Rancher-managed Kubernetes environments
Support migration to RHEL9 Universal Base Images (UBI)
3. Automation & CI/CD
Develop and maintain Jenkins pipelines using Groovy shared libraries
Build automation tools and API integrations using Python
Support scalable code-based CI/CD pipelines
4. Vulnerability & Security Management
Review vulnerability scan reports and remediate identified CVEs
Ensure compliance with RHEL9 security standards and benchmarks
Maintain secure software supply chain practices
Required Technical Skills - Strong hands-on experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), especially RHEL9
- Linux administration and troubleshooting expertise
- Python development/scripting experience
- Groovy scripting for Jenkins DSL
- Experience with Docker, Podman, Kubernetes, Rancher
- Strong Jenkins CI/CD experience
- Experience with Make, CMake, GCC build systems
- Vulnerability remediation and security hardening experience
- Experience with Ansible for large-scale OS configuration
- Strong hands-on engineering depth is critical
- Should have real experience in platform engineering, CI/CD, containerization, and OS modernization
- Good communication skills required due to client-facing interviews.
The base compensation range for this role in the posted location is: 78,000 to 110,000.
