Job Description

Involves the wellness, prevention, rehabilitation and optimization of individuals' physical, sensory, and mental capabilities and functional abilities and outcomes. Includes the rehabilitative areas of physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy and audiology. Functions as part of the interdisciplinary healthcare team, working across the full continuum of care in a wide variety of settings.

Provides direct supervision typically to professionals or skilled technical employees. Functions as advisor to unit and administration. Analyzes and resolves problems, interprets policies (e.g., fiscal management, HR, contracts and grants, resource management in defined areas) and demonstrates solid subject matter knowledge. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and policies to determine appropriate action. Supervises staff to assure accountability and stewardship of department resources (operational, financial, and human) in compliance with departmental goals and objectives.

Provides supervision to rehabilitation staff including therapists in any rehabilitation discipline (physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, audiology). May also include supervision of rehabilitation support staff. Oversees employees, ensures compliance, enforces policies and procedures, and schedules staff. Supervises and unit / department's efficiency, productivity and performance; resolves or escalates daily clinical, program and operational issues.

Oversees operations of clinical services, enforces clinical workflows for assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients; ensures compliance with procedures; coordinates staff scheduling and establishes work assignments

Provides input for standards for diagnosing, treating patients, and counseling staff. Participates in implementing patient care improvement initiatives, applying specialty techniques, and implementing new technology and new clinical workflows. Analyzes data and feedback to identify processes/systems to improve patient satisfaction and clinical outcomes.

Reports to management on patient care activities and treatment area operations.

Monitors equipment inventory, recommends proper supply, and identifies better equipment. Assists with the administration of resources through supervising assigned staff utilization of resources. Suggests ways to improve operations by increasing efficiency and containing costs.

Communicates regularly across multidisciplinary health care team to ensure proper patient care, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams related to improvements in patient care or business operations/finance. Participates on a multidisciplinary team and department committees.

Participates in recruiting and conducts new employee orientation. Recommends changes in staffing and budget to ensure the efficient operation of clinical services function. Evaluates performance and competency and defines development goals in alignment with departmental goals.

Mentors and coaches staff in meeting professional goals and developing growth areas. Consults with leaders on developing strategies for performance improvement. Assists management in coordinating staff development, training, and competency assessment.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum four (4) years of clinical experience
• Demonstrated leadership skills in training, mentoring and guiding employees in rehabilitation service techniques. Motivates and inspires staff to improve patient care services. Actively cooperates and supports the work of others.
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize effectively to meet deadlines in a complex, challenging environment.
• Ability to organize assigned staff and unit operations in an efficient and effective manner.
• Ability to develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with assigned staff, patients, and interdisciplinary team members part of the rehabilitation patient care plan.
• Skills to evaluate issues and identify solutions within defined procedures and policies. Demonstrated ability to solve problems and suggest solutions through critical thinking process.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with patients and healthcare team members across the continuum of care. Skills to actively listen, persuade, advise, and counsel.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum one (1) year of prior experience as a supervisor or Clinical Leader
• Demonstrates subject matter knowledge of a rehabilitation service. Ability to apply principles to designated setting to ensure operations meet regulatory standards.
• Solid knowledge of medical center, HR and UC policies and processes. Knowledge and ability to monitor compliance with relevant rehabilitation patient care / equipment management federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
• Knowledge of the organization's patient care documentation technology to teach others, recommend and oversee improvements and troubleshoot issues.
• Prior experience working on an interdisciplinary health provider team
• Prior experience with Epic clinical documentation, billing, and scheduling tools.
• California state dispensing audiologist license.
• BLS-CPR certified

EDUCATION, LICENSES, AND CERTIFICATIONS:

• AuD or PhD in Audiology with four (4) or more years of post-licensure experience in the field of Audiology.
• Possession of, or proven eligibility for, licensure in the State of California in the related clinical discipline.
