Full Job Description
Job Summary

The Regulatory/Financial Reporting Developer supports Morgan Stanley's Regulatory Reporting groups by building scalable applications and services to report and file disclosures with global regulatory bodies. This role involves developing Java services, large-scale computational processing, warehouse reporting, and configuring Axiom regulatory reporting tools. The developer will work across the full software development lifecycle, driving platform hygiene, DevOps improvements, and data transformation initiatives while collaborating with Finance, Control Functions, and global project teams.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Develop scalable applications using Java, Python, SQL, and other languages
  2. Support regulatory reporting by onboarding and configuring Axiom solution templates (e.g., 14A DFAST, SEC FOCUS, Brazil DLO, SPED)
  3. Analyze platform hygiene and define remediation plans for DevOps gaps (CI/CD, monitoring, environment controls)
  4. Implement business logic and data transformations using Scala/Spark with testing and performance considerations
  5. Build Power BI dashboards and KPIs for data quality, reconciliations, and operational metrics
  6. Participate in full SDLC including requirements gathering, development, testing, release, and L3 support
  7. Drive standardization and architecture discussions across the team
  8. Collaborate with Finance, Control Functions, and global project managers to deliver high-quality implementations

Required Qualifications

  1. 2+ years of experience with Axiom or Suade regulatory reporting tools
  2. 3+ years of software development experience in Scala/Spark (Java)
  3. Database experience with SQL and RDBMS platforms (Snowflake DB preferred, Postgres)
  4. Proficiency in Python scripting
  5. Experience incorporating AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Copilot, Claude)
  6. Experience with Power BI for reporting and dashboards
  7. Bachelor's degree or equivalent field experience


Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Unix commands and shell scripting
  • Familiarity with job automation/scheduling tools such as Autosys or Apache Airflow
  • Knowledge of CI/CD methodology
  • Experience with Azure cloud technologies such as Databricks
  • Experience working in agile teams with focus on continuous integration and automated testing
  • Practical experience delivering AI-enabled use cases
