Overview

Regulatory Consultant is responsible for providing regulatory guidance, compliance assurance, and operational support for upstream oil and gas operations. Supports permitting, regulatory compliance, and agency coordination activities while ensuring adherence to state and federal regulations. Works closely with operations and asset teams to interpret regulatory requirements, resolve compliance issues, and support efficient execution of drilling, completion, production, and plugging activities.

Responsibilities

  • Manage regulatory permitting activities associated with drilling, completion, workover, production, and plugging operations.
  • Prepare and submit well permits, regulatory filings, testing reports, and annual compliance reports.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with applicable state and federal oil and gas regulations.
  • Investigate and resolve operational and production-related compliance issues, including inactive well requirements and regulatory violations.
  • Maintain productive working relationships with regulatory agencies to support timely permitting and compliance activities.
  • Provide regulatory guidance and support to operations and asset teams regarding permitting requirements and operational compliance obligations.
  • Analyze, interpret, and communicate regulatory updates, agency directives, and policy changes affecting field operations.
  • Participate in industry workgroups and collaborative initiatives to improve regulatory processes, policies, and compliance programs.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts related to regulatory compliance, reporting, and operational efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation to ensure regulatory compliance and audit readiness.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant industry experience.
  • Minimum of seven years of experience in upstream oil and gas operations.
  • Experience in regulatory compliance, permitting, and regulatory affairs.
  • Strong knowledge of state and federal oil and gas regulations and permitting requirements.
  • Proven ability to build effective working relationships with regulatory agencies and cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
