Location

On-site at Eastman's Corporate Headquarters in Kingsport, TN

Responsibilities

Support development of registration/clearance requirements for company product portfolios, while ensuring compliance with existing product & application regulations.
Manage global chemical inventory control law compliance process. Compliance reporting and regulatory project management, documentation and reviews.
Support global business units with evaluation of regulatory clearance and compliance requirements for products under development.
Advise technology and business personnel on the regulatory status of existing Eastman products in relation to proposed applications in countries around the world. Advocacy and industry point-of-contact responsibilities.

Description:
Global emphasis to support business needs for International Chemical Control Law (ICCL) working in conjunction with corporate and regional Product Stewardship and Regulatory Affairs (PS&RA) groups and Technology
• Complete reviews and enter comments for new commercialization requests and regulatory/toxicology reviews and in the Product Data Management system
• Provide timely communications on status of petitions or projects, regulatory questions, and customer inquiries
• Work closely with the global Product Steward to develop strategies for filing petitions for new products seeking commercial clearance in multiple countries
• Consult with technology and toxicology regarding testing and other informational needs to support due diligence or petitions for non-EU and non-NAR countries
• Provide supporting documents for product registration applications. Data gap analysis, compiling and analyzing available product data and literature.
• Lead and support assigned chemical regulatory activities including PMN, DSL, and related submission or compliance processes. By maintaining accurate project status, documented plans, and target completion timelines.
• Maintain records for new global registrations (e.g. US TSCA-PMN, NOC, LVE and PE; KR, CN, and TW PLC; JP-PFS and SQE; PH SQI)
• Support US and OUS chemical control law petitions
• Oversee generation of US TSCA CDR report
• Provide technical (composition/chemistry) and SAP support to regional ICCL experts
• Implement Chemicals Management program
o Determine impact and develop mitigation or opportunistic strategies and implementation plans for proposed priority chemicals
o Develop and issue quarterly reports for Product Stewards highlighting Eastman materials containing substances appearing on select regulatory and pre-regulatory lists (e.g. SVHC, Prop 65, TSCA Work Plan, SIN List, etc.)
o Oversee development of product risk characterization and prioritization tool
• Stay abreast of global existing, recently modified, and new chemical regulations in conjunction with regional ICCL experts.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree in engineering, chemistry, polymer science, or related technical field required
  • At least 4 years' experience with regulatory submissions and Global chemical regulatory knowledge.
  • Experience with SAP functionality
  • Project planning and documentation
  • Ability to initiate cross functional team communication and stakeholder collaboration
  • Ability to apply knowledge of best practices derived from experience and external connections
  • Ability to work independently
  • Experience in chemical regulations and/or stewardship preferred
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, accountable and results-driven, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Critical thinking
  • Ability to build relationships and collaborate across multiple functions
  • Ability to develop knowledge about the chemistry of products, the identity of the products, possible formation/presence of by-products, impurities, break-down products, additives used and contaminations by processing aids, packaging, storage and transportation
  • Microsoft Office application proficiency
  • Process or procedure design experience beneficial
  • Presentation experience beneficial, ability to explain complex information to others in straightforward language
  • Willing to travel ~5%
