Department: 10ES ENT/Gyne Oncology/Urology/Plastics
Reports to: Nurse Manager
Wage Range: $41.15 - $58.98 per hour (start rate is non-negotiable and in accordance to collective agreement requirements)
Hours: 37.5 Hours per Week
Shifts: Days/Nights/Weekdays/Weekends
Status: Temporary Full-Time (End Date ~ September 5, 2027)
Closing Date: August 27, 2026

Job Summary

This inpatient unit is one of the largest head and neck & plastics program in the country. As part of the surgical oncology program, we also care for patients having gynecologic oncology and urology surgery. We have 6 step-down beds on the unit for closer observation and monitoring.

Our strong inter-professional team cares for patients recovering from major and minor head and neck and plastic resections /reconstructions. Nurses on this unit are experts in airway management, flap monitoring, leech therapy and psychosocial assessments and support.

The program focuses on cancers affecting:
  • Oral Cavity (Lip and mouth)
  • Larynx
  • Pharynx (nasopharynx, oropharynx, hypopharynx)
  • Salivary glands
  • Nasal Cavities and sinuses
  • Thyroid & upper traches
  • Breast requiring reconstruction
  • Skin (melanoma/basal cell)
  • Bladder
  • Prostate
  • Ovaries and Uterus
  • Other Malignancies


Qualifications
  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (B.C.L.S) certification
  • Previous experience in E.N.T., Urology, Gyne-Onc, and plastic surgery
  • Completion of Acute or Critical Care Nursing Certificate Program preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Must be flexible, and possess the ability to work effectively and efficiently within a variety of patient care teams
  • Excellent organizational, time management and decision making skills
  • Flexible and able to work effectively and efficiently within a interdisciplinary patient care team
  • Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and decision making skills
  • Ability to contribute to a culture of learning by supporting students, new hires, novice nurses, and members of the interprofessional team through role modelling, coaching, teaching, feedback, and competency development
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent computer skills
  • B.Sc.N. preferred
  • Computer literacy an asset
