Full Job Description
The Role

As a Registered Nurse within UVA Health's Women ' s and Children ' s Units, you will provide evidence-based care to patients across a variety of clinical settings. This role combines advanced clinical practice, patient advocacy, interdisciplinary collaboration, and compassionate support for patients and families during some of life's most critical moments.

Working within a fast-paced academic medical center, you will:

  • Deliver comprehensive nursing care to women, infants, children, and adolescent patients with a wide range of healthcare needs.

  • Assess patient conditions, develop individualized plans of care, and evaluate outcomes throughout hospitalization.

  • Partner closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, therapists, pharmacists, care coordinators, and support staff.

  • Support family-centered care by engaging patients and loved ones throughout the treatment journey.

  • Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, discharge planning, and ongoing care needs.

  • Utilize critical thinking and sound clinical judgment when caring for medically complex patients.

  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, evidence-based practice, shared governance, and professional development opportunities.

  • Contribute to a culture focused on safety, teamwork, innovation, and exceptional patient experiences.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing required within 5 years of hire.

Experience: 1 year of relevant experience.

Licensure: Licensed to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently traveling, bending/stooping. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 20 - 50lbs. May be exposed to chemicals, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.

The pay range for this role is $39.90 - $53.00 hourly. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
