SUMMARY:
The Inpatient Dialysis unit at Rochester General operates Monday through Saturday from 07:00a to 10:00 PM, with a dedicated on-call nurse available overnight, seven days a week, for emergencies. We provide in-center hemodialysis for patients with acute and chronic renal failure, using state-of-the-art dialysis delivery systems maintained by skilled technicians. Our care features high flux dialysis with advanced membrane technology and rigorous water purification through extensive reverse osmosis systems that meet strict state and federal standards.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides high-quality, patient-centered, clinical care
Performs initial and ongoing assessment of the patient, utilizing appropriate data (i.e. physical, psychological,educational and risk-screen data appropriate for the chronological / developmental age of the patient).
Communicates and documents assessment of patient with the interdisciplinary team. Utilizes all availableresources in order to meet the needs of the patient and family.
Develops and documents plan of care, treatment and services which is individualized and appropriate for thepatient needs, strengths, limitations and goals.
Complies with organizational policies, procedures and protocols including policies governing safety, medicationadministration and documentation.
Revises plan of care based on ongoing evaluations and updates documentation appropriately.
Completes at least one clinical research utilization (CRU) form for submission to Nursing Research Departmentutilizing a research article from the last 5 years from research performed in the United States.
COMPLIANCE:
Completes a minimum of 5 nationally approved contact hours (CNE or CEU) per year.
Completes mandatory in-services and health screens in timely manner.
Maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Diploma or Associates Degree in Nursing
Registered Nurse license in New York State.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Moderate - Clinical - Moderate clinical roles are patient facing roles that require continual movement, including standing, walking, and lifting 20 60 lbs., along with pushing and pulling medical equipment and assisting with patient positioning. Employees perform frequent bending, twisting, and reaching while completing fine motor tasks in busy or confined clinical environments. High sensory acuity is essential for monitoring patient status and responding to alarms or safety concerns. Emotional and cognitive demands are substantial, involving decision-making under pressure, responding to emergencies, and maintaining sustained focus. Environmental exposures include infectious agents, bodily fluids, chemicals, and radiation. TB testing, mask-fit testing, and physical exams are common requirements.
