13-Week Contract | Full-Time Days | Bethesda, Maryland
We are seeking one experienced Registered Nurse to provide safe, patient-centered care in the 5SW Day Hospital at the NIH Clinical Center. This is a 13-week contract assignment with the possibility of a long-term or permanent full-time opportunity based on performance and continued staffing needs.
Schedule
- Full-time day shift
- Four 10-hour shifts per week or five 8-hour shifts per week
- 40 hours per week
- Final schedule will be based on the unit's staffing requirements
$80,000 - $90,000 a year
Minimum Qualifications
- Active, valid, and unrestricted RN license issued by at least one U.S. state, territory, or commonwealth
- Associate degree, nursing diploma, or bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited institution
- Successful completion of the NCLEX-RN
- At least two years of current acute-care hospital nursing experience
- Current Basic Life Support certification
- ACLS certification if required by the client
- Demonstrated current clinical competency
- Effective English communication skills
- Computer literacy and proficiency with electronic clinical documentation
- U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent resident/Green Card status
Primary Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, provide, and evaluate nursing care for patients receiving day-hospital services
- Complete patient intake, medication reconciliation, focused assessments, and clinical screening
- Prepare patients for scheduled treatments, infusions, procedures, or diagnostic services
- Administer medications, fluids, blood products, and other treatments as ordered and within the RN's authorized scope of practice
- Monitor patients during treatment and promptly respond to changes, complications, or adverse reactions
- Review clinical information, laboratory results, treatment orders, and discharge requirements
- Coordinate care with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, laboratory personnel, and other healthcare professionals
- Educate patients and families regarding treatments, medications, side effects, discharge instructions, and follow-up care
- Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential clinical documentation
- Follow NIH clinical protocols, infection-control practices, patient-safety requirements, and professional standards
- Participate in required orientation, training, and competency activities
- Float to another patient-care area when needed, provided the assignment is within the RN's demonstrated competency and scope of practice
Additional Requirements
Selected candidates must satisfy NIH credentialing, health, immunization, security, fingerprinting, background-investigation, and facility-access requirements. All licenses, certifications, competencies, and health documentation must remain current throughout the assignment.
