Job Description

The UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland (OR) consists of 11 surgical suites and 1 procedural. Our primary focus is multidisciplinary team-based approach and staffing.

Services include, but are not limited to: Neurology, Ortho/Spine, Otolaryngology, Urology, Plastics, Ophthalmology, Dental, Cardiac, General Surgery, GI, Hem/Onc.

All patient care team members are responsible to meet patient needs, demonstrate willingness to learn new skills, and foster a harmonious work environment in which high quality patient care and customer service is consistently provided. Team members promote a cooperative working relationship with each other, physicians, other disciplines and the public by facilitating and enhancing communication, displaying honesty and respect, displaying sensitivity to cultural differences, and expressing and accepting feedback in a professional manner.

Utilizes the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide safe, therapeutic care. Functions as a member of the interdisciplinary and nursing teams; carries out established nursing procedures and performs related duties as required; performs nursing care for patients with more complex needs with assistance and supervision.   • Current experience in the Operating Room of an acute care setting
  • Proficiency, ability to independently circulate, in at least 3 of the following services: General Surgery, Neurology, Orthopedics/Spine, Otolaryngology/Airway, GU, Plastics, Ophthalmology, Cardiac.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills. Must be well organized and detail-oriented with the ability to multitask and work independently and under pressure.
  • Basic computer keyboard skills and general PC knowledge.

  • Required On-Call commitment
  • This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations


Preferred Qualifications:
  • General Surgery, Ortho/Spine, Neuro, Cardiac experience desired
  • CNOR
  • BSN Preferred
  • Proficient in Scrubbing role in at least 2 of services listed above
  • Experience in Level 1 Trauma hospital
  • Charge Nurse experience


Licenses/Certifications:
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of California.
  • Active American Heart Association CPR certification
  • Active American Heart Association PALS Certification
