Job DescriptionUnder general supervision, guided by the policies and procedures of the Ambulatory Services, and in collaboration with the physician staff, the Clinical Nurse II performs established nursing procedures using clinical knowledge to care for patients. S/he consistently projects a professional and courteous demeanor. The Clinical Nurse II shall comply with the Medical Center Standards.
ResponsibilitiesResponsible for maintaining the knowledge and abilities essential to the performance of stated behaviors. Carries out legal responsibilities within the scope of the Nurse Practice Act. Accountable to the NURSE SVC SUPV 2 for overall work performance.
QualificationsRequired Qualifications:- One or more years of clinical hemodialysis experience (outpatient or inpatient) within the last 12 months.
- Minimum of 6 months' career level experience in a pediatric hemodialysis setting within the last 2 years.
- The motivation to become a participant on a team dedicated to effective, safe patient care.
- Willingness to learn and flexibility in assignments - this job will require both inpatient and outpatient care.
- Aptitude for care of the patient with renal failure.
- Ability to communicate effectively with pediatric patients and families.
- Exposure and/or hands-on experience with computers, familiar with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Outlook.
- Flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center dialysis locations - Mission Bay, Parnassus Heights, Mount Zion, Stanyan and Hyde.
Preferred Qualifications:- Experience in both inpatient and outpatient dialysis.
- Specialty certification in nephrology nursing (CNN)
- College-level degree in Nursing (BSN, MSN) from an Accredited School of Nursing.
Licenses/Certifications: - Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of CA.
- Current American Heart Association CPR Certification.
- Current PALS Certification
Salary InformationThe final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
