Job DescriptionUnder general supervision, guided by the policies and procedures of the department of nursing, and in collaboration with the physician staff, the Clinical Nurse performs established nursing procedures using clinical knowledge to care for patients. They consistently project a professional and courteous demeanor in line with UCSF's PRIDE standards. The Clinical Nurse shall comply with the Medical Center Communication Standards. Utilizes the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide safe therapeutic care.
ResponsibilitiesWork Environment- Keeps working areas neat, orderly and clutter-free, including the hallways. Adheres to cleaning processes and puts things back where they belong. Removes and reports broken equipment and furniture.
- Picks up and disposes of any litter found throughout entire facility.
- Posts flyers and posters in designated areas only; does not post on walls, doors or windows.
- Knows where the Environment of Care Manual is kept in department; corrects or reports unsafe conditions to the appropriate departments.
- Protects the physical environment and equipment from damage and theft.
QualificationsRequired Qualifications:- A minimum of two (2) years recent clinical inpatient hemodialysis experience as a registered nurse
- This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations including Mission Bay, Mount Zion, Parnassus, Stanyan and Hyde Hospitals.
- The motivation to become a participant on a team dedicated to effective, safe patient care.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients and families
Preferred Qualifications:- Hemodialysis and apheresis experience
- Specialty certification in nephrology or apheresis (CDN, CNN, CNN-NP, QIA)
- General computer literacy and basic familiarity with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel), Epic EMR
Licenses/Certifications:- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of CA
- Current American Heart Association CPR Certification.
- Current American Heart Association PALS or ACLS Certification (career staff)
- Telemetry certification or successful completion of an exam in interpreting cardiac rhythms upon hire
Salary InformationThe final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
