Full Job Description
Provides clinical support to all providers, the clinical staff and patients of the Oncology Service line.
**Roles and Responsibilities:**
- Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments, obtain vital signs, and assess lab results for all patients.
- Administer chemotherapy and/or biotherapy per MD orders, ensuring confirmation of dosing based on the most recent labs and weight.
- Perform checks on treatment orders and medications, collaborating with a second RN or pharmacy for verification.
- Monitor for adverse effects or infusion-related reactions, responding appropriately, and managing side effects while providing education on proper self-care during treatment.
- Provide patient-specific education, including chemotherapy teaching sessions and regimen treatment plans and schedules.
- Utilize a multidisciplinary team to address patient-specific needs, report any concerns to the provider, and review previous treatment and recent provider notes to ensure appropriate regimens and labs are reviewed prior to treatment.
**Required Skills and Experience:**
- Associates of applied science of nursing from accredited institution
- NYS Registered Nurse licensure
**Preferred Skills and Experience:**
- Minimum of 1-year med/surg nursing experience.
- Chemo experience
**Physical Requirements:**
- Repetitive use of hands and fingers (e.g., use of computer keyboard); may require lifting and carrying light loads (up to 40 lbs.), including boxes, equipment, unit-dose cassettes, and IV solutions and stooping and kneeling (e.g., to pick up items from the floor, to remove and replace items on lower shelves, and to file documents in lower file drawers); sitting, walking, or standing for long periods of time (4-8 hours) is often necessary; must be able physically to operate the equipment used for the job.

**Pay Range Disclosure:**
- $38.63 to 47.18 per hour
