Registered Nurse

Location: Bowling Green, Ohio

Pay: $72,800- $89,440 Based On Qualifications And Experience.

Shift: Monday - Friday 9a-5p

Job Summary: The Registered Nurse provides nursing oversight, health coordination, and staff training to support individuals with developmental disabilities living in residential settings. This position ensures that individuals receive safe, person-centered, and quality care in accordance with best medical practices, agency policies, and Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities (DODD) regulations. The Registered Nurse is responsible for assessing health needs, and collaborating with staff, families, and healthcare professionals. In addition, the nurse provides and oversees staff training on health-related topics and ensures that all employees maintain compliance with DODD-required training and competencies to promote the health, safety, and well-being of individuals served.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide nursing assessments, treatments, and interventions in accordance with the Ohio Nurse Practice Ace and DODD standards
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed and needed Monitor individuals' health status, vital signs, and overall well-being
  • Respond to medical emergencies and implement appropriate care
  • Conduct and document health assessments per agency protocols
  • Maintain accurate and up to date medical records, medication administration records and nursing notes
  • Monitor and document changes in health status and communicate finding to the interdisciplinary team
  • Ensure compliance with all DODD documentation and reporting requirements.
  • Collaborate with physicians, pharmacists, therapists, and other health professionals
  • Serve as a liaison between medical providers and direct care staff, and management.
  • Participate in Individual Service Plan (ISP) meetings to provide input on health and medical needs.
  • Train and delegate medication administration and health-related activities to DSPs in accordance with DODD's
  • Delegation of Nursing Tasks (OAC 5123-6-06).
  • Provide competency evaluations and retraining as needed.
  • Ensure staff compliance with infection control, medication administration, and health monitoring procedures.
  • Follow all applicable Ohio DODD rules, including OAC 5123-9 and OAC 5123-6.
  • Participate in internal and external audits, reviews, and quality assurance initiatives.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of nursing policies and procedures consistent with DODD regulations and the Ohio Nurse Practice Act
  • Advocate for individuals' health care needs and ensure person-centered care.
  • Educate individuals and their guardians on health conditions, treatments, and preventive care.

Qualifications

  • At least 18 years of age
  • Active RN license in the state of Ohio
  • 1 year of experience in ID/DD or long-term care nursing preferred
  • Ability to work weekends and oncali
  • Ability to communicate effectively to: Complete required forms and reports of the services provided
  • Follow oral and written instructions and communicate with individuals in the individual's mode of communication.
  • Ability to pass criminal/registry background checks
  • A valid driver's license & insured vehicle
  • Ability and willingness to support individuals with challenging behavior and or medical concerns
  • Ability to pass and maintain required trainings such as CPR/First Aid, Medication Certification, and Positive
  • Behavior Support Training
  • Ability to perform light to moderate lifting (50 lbs) when needed
  • Ability to train staff, clients and family members in health-related
  • Willing to travel throughout the assigned coverage area
