Description

As a REGISTERED NURSE (RN) you will:

  • Apply professional emergency nursing skills in the care and treatment of acutely ill and injured patients utilizing the nursing process; assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Use nursing process and provides care within Iowa Board of Nursing (IBON) scope of practice and in accordance with hospital policies/procedures; alerts Charge nurse of concerns.
  • Promote patient-centered care through respect of patient's value, preferences, and expressed needs, coordination and integration of care, and transition and continuity.
  • Collaborate with the patient, significant others, and ancillary departments to create a multidisciplinary healthcare team whose goal is to provide care that is continuous and well-coordinated.
  • Triage patients quickly and efficiently per the Emergency Department's policies specific to Triage.
  • Document accurately and thoroughly the assessment findings and care plan progress.
  • Provide oversight and delegates to (as appropriate) LPNs, CNAs, and Unit Secretary (i.e. overseeing documentation, cares, and general operations of the unit).
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of patient, resident, and personnel information.

Required Education, Experience, and Skills:

  • Graduate from an accredited and approved nursing program required.
  • Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in the state of Iowa required.
  • Minimum of 6 months of acute care nursing.
  • BLS certification within 30 days of start date
  • ACLS Certification within specified period after employment.
  • PALS Provider or ENPC within specified period after employment.
  • TNCC within 6 months of employment.
  • Dependent Adult and Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter within 30 days of employment.
  • Ability to maintain a high standard of courtesy and cooperation in dealing with co-workers, physicians, patients, residents, volunteers, and visitors.
  • Adaptability to performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature without loss of efficiency or composure.
  • Ability to delegate wisely, exercise good judgment, maintain positive interpersonal relationships, adapt to change, evaluate critically and think creatively.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge and skills required for specialized area of assignment.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide nursing care appropriate to patients of all ages.
  • Must demonstrate effective communication skills.
  • Must have legal authorization to work in the United States


Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree or higher
  • Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN)
  • Previous ED or critical care nursing


Additional Details:

Department: Inpatient and Skill Unit / Emergency Department

Employment Type: Regular, Full-Time

Schedule: 3 x 12-hour shifts, 7:00am - 7:00pm - 1/3 in ED; 2/3 Inpatient

Salary Range: $30.00 - $47.63 per hour (competitive and commensurate with experience)
