The iFlex RN is part of Intermountain's internal travel agency for assignments. This is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care of patients. This RN utilizes the nursing process by use of technology, therapeutic intervention, evidence-based practice and coordination of care with other health team members. Intermountain Health is seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) - Labor & Delivery to join our iFlex team supporting Orem Community Hospital in Orem, Utah, and Intermountain Medical Center (IMC) in Murray, Utah. As a Labor & Delivery RN, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional care to mothers, newborns, and families during one of life's most meaningful experiences.

This unique opportunity allows caregivers to work in two distinct maternity care settings. Orem Community Hospital provides high-quality, community-focused maternity care in a welcoming and supportive environment, while Intermountain Medical Center serves as a nationally recognized tertiary care facility and regional referral center for high-risk obstetric and neonatal patients. Together, these facilities offer a diverse clinical experience ranging from routine deliveries to complex maternal and neonatal care.

About the Labor & Delivery RN Role:
As a Labor & Delivery RN, you will provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care throughout labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum care. You'll collaborate with physicians, certified nurse midwives, neonatal specialists, lactation consultants, and interdisciplinary caregivers to support safe, positive outcomes for patients and families.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver comprehensive, patient-centered care to laboring and postpartum patients.
  • Collaborate with physicians, midwives, and interdisciplinary team members.
  • Utilize evidence-based practices to support safe labor progression, delivery, and recovery.
  • Assess and monitor maternal and fetal status using sound clinical judgment.
  • Support and educate patients and families throughout labor, delivery, postpartum recovery, and newborn care.
  • Respond effectively to changing patient conditions and obstetric emergencies.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and compliance with regulatory and professional standards.
  • Foster a culture of safety, compassion, teamwork, and continuous improvement.


Minimum Qualifications:
  • Current RN license in the state of Utah (or ability to obtain).
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification for Healthcare Providers.
  • Strong communication, critical thinking, and organizational skills.
  • Two (2) years of recent acute care RN experience preferred.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution.
  • Previous Labor & Delivery nursing experience preferred.
  • Advanced maternal-child nursing certifications.


Posting Specifics:
  • Shift Details: Variable shifts
  • Schedule: Full-time hours during each 3-month assignment; 2-3 assignments per year required
  • Pay Rate: $68-$75/hour flat rate, dependent on location and specialty


Travel Requirements:
  • Expected to work shifts at Orem Community Hospital, Intermountain Medical Center, and other assigned Intermountain facilities.
  • Must be willing to float across units within each facility.
  • Travel required across Utah, Colorado, Montana, and Idaho to support enterprise-wide staffing needs.
  • All iFlex caregivers must maintain readiness to travel throughout the Intermountain Health system.

Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.

Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.

Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.

Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.
- and -
Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc.).

May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period.
