Lead the Future of Practical Nursing

Pima Medical Institute is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our Practical Nursing (LPN) program as a Full-Time Classroom Instructor. This role is ideal for an RN who wants to transition from long clinical shifts into a stable, Monday-Friday academic position focused on teaching, mentoring, and shaping the next generation of Licensed Practical Nurses.

As the primary on-campus instructor, you will deliver core nursing theory, guide students through simulation-based learning, and support their progression toward clinical readiness and NCLEX-PN success. Clinical faculty manage off-site rotations, allowing you to focus fully on classroom excellence and student development.

What Your Week Looks Like
  • Monday-Thursday: Lead classroom lectures and simulation-lab instruction using the approved Practical Nursing curriculum (8:00 AM-5:00 PM).
  • Friday: Facilitate open-lab practice, provide one-on-one tutoring, reinforce essential skills, and complete academic tracking and documentation.


Key Responsibilities
  • Classroom & Lab Instruction - Deliver didactic, skills-lab, and simulation-based learning experiences.
  • Curriculum Delivery - Prepare and deliver lesson plans aligned with course syllabi, objectives, and outlines.
  • Program Collaboration - Work with the Program Director to implement, evaluate, and enhance the program of learning.
  • Student Advising - Maintain student records, provide academic counseling, and meet regularly with students to support progression.
  • Skills Lab Oversight - Manage skills lab inventory, equipment, and readiness for student practice.
  • Faculty Coordination - Mentor new faculty and coordinate instruction with ANIP and clinical instructors.
  • Clinical Alignment - Ensure learning objectives transition smoothly from classroom to clinical environments.
  • Accreditation & Compliance - Participate in faculty meetings, program evaluation activities, and accreditation processes.
  • NCLEX-PN Preparation - Coach students toward licensure readiness through structured remediation and exam-focused strategies.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's degree, with a major in nursing, from a Nursing Education Program with a national nursing accreditation.
  • Three (3) years occupational (i.e., practical) experience as a nurse providing direct patient care.
  • Current Colorado RN license and any other credential as required by local, state and/or federal laws to work as a Registered Nurse in Colorado.
  • Verbal and written communications skills.
  • Knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and computer skills.
