North 8, Women's Health, is a 27 bed surgical unit serving the unique needs of women. We primarily care for patients recovering from gynecological, uro-gynocology, and gyn/onc procedures as well as plastic surgery and abdominal procedures. In addition, we care for stable obstetrical patients such as high risk antepartum, and postpartum women whose newborns are in the NICU. During surges in the hospital-wide census, we also admit a small percentage of female medical patients on North 8. We offer the opportunity for the nurse to learn such skills as electronic fetal monitoring, advanced breastfeeding support, and a wide variety of pre- and post-operative interventions

Job Summary:

Provides holistic, quality and cost-effective nursing care for patients/families and/or others for a patient population within a unit, service or other primary area of practice with an awareness of the episode of care. Applies the nursing process within the context of the organization's Framework for Professional Practice. Functions as clinically compete

Qualifications:

• Current Connecticut RN License.
• Graduate of an accredited nursing school ASN Required, BSN preferred.
• BLS certification by the American Heart Association required prior to date of hire.
• One year nursing experience required; previous maternity experience desired.
• Experience in Women's Health or postoperative care desired
