Position Specific Description

NextEra Energy's Power Generation Division is seeking a proven operational leader to oversee the Central Region Solar & Energy Storage Operations portfolio, supporting assets across Colorado, Southwest Kansas, the Oklahoma Panhandle, and the Texas

Panhandle. This position will provide leadership for multiple utility-scale solar and energy storage facilities while ensuring safe, reliable, and cost-effective operations.

This operating area is expected to experience significant growth over the next several years, with the renewable generation portfolio projected to expand from approximately 1.5 GW to 5 GW by the end of 2028. The successful candidate will play a critical role in scaling the organization, integrating new assets, and building the operational capability necessary to support this rapid expansion while maintaining industry-leading standards for safety, reliability, and performance.

Under limited direction, this leader is responsible for all aspects of regional business and operational performance, including safety, production, financial performance, compliance, reliability, and team development. The successful candidate will lead a team of managers, technicians, and support personnel while partnering with centralized support organizations, engineering, supply chain, environmental, and market operations to achieve strategic business objectives.

This role requires an experienced leader capable of balancing day-to-day operational execution with long-term regional strategy, developing organizational capability, and driving a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead all regional operations and maintenance activities for multiple solar and energy storage facilities.
  • Ensure the safe, reliable, and compliant operation of all assets while maintaining an injury-free workplace.
  • Deliver regional production, financial, reliability, environmental, and operational performance targets.
  • Develop, coach, and mentor a high-performing team while building organizational capability and succession strength.
  • Collaborate with peers, centralized support organizations, vendors, OEMs, and business partners to achieve organizational objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with all Power Generation Division (PGD) operational model processes.
  • Lead by example and embody PGD shared values.
  • Ensure all business activities comply with corporate policies and applicable federal, state, and local regulations, permits, codes, and standards.
  • Manage regional operating and capital budgets while driving financial accountability and cost optimization.
  • Oversee procurement activities and resource allocation across the region.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives utilizing Lean, Six Sigma, and operational excellence principles.
  • Support outage planning, major maintenance activities, capital projects, commissioning efforts, and fleet growth initiatives.
  • Travel throughout the region approximately 50%-70% of the time.


Location & Relocation Requirement

This position supports assets throughout the Central Region, including Colorado, Southwest Kansas, the Oklahoma Panhandle, and the Texas Panhandle.

To effectively support regional operations, candidates must be willing to relocate (if necessary) and establish and maintain a primary residence located within both:Five (5) hours driving distance of Amarillo, Texas, and Five (5) hours driving distance of Pueblo, Colorado.

Relocation assistance may be provided, if applicable. This residency requirement is a condition of employment and is necessary to ensure timely response to operational, emergency, and business needs across the assigned region.

  • Leads, manages, and develops the team within their region.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

The base pay range for this position is $139,200.00 to $208,800.00 per year. This range represents the expected base pay for a successful candidate and is based on a variety of factors, including skills, experience, and internal equity. This role may also be eligible for an annual performance bonus, subject to individual and company performance.
