Job Summary

Our Individual Disability Insurance (IDI) team is growing! We are looking for a Regional Sales Representative to be responsible for driving increased sales, persistency, profitability and recruiting goals for assigned agencies and/or territory. You will work to achieve assigned sales goals and implement sales strategies to establish productive and long-term working relationships with Managing General Agencies (MGAs), execute on strategic plans developed under the leadership of the National Sales Director, IDI, including training and use of sales analytics, and commit to professional development plans.
  • Achieve personal & regional sales objectives. Demonstrate product expertise and knowledge of competition to increase sales.
  • Partner with IDI National Sales Director and IDI sales team to devise and execute customized sales and marketing strategies to grow territory sales. Use sales analytics to identify opportunities to increase sales, placement and persistency.
  • Function as the primary relationship manager for MGA offices doing business with The Standard. Train distribution partners on The Standard's products, value propositions and key target markets.

Skills and Background You'll Need

Education: College degree required, preferably in Business, Marketing, or Finance.

Experience: 5+ years of IDI sales experience.
  • Prior Individual disability insurance (IDI) sales experience, preferably with fully underwritten products.
  • Experience with Microsoft Power BI, Excel and PowerPoint required. Must be proficient at data and technology to analyze data and identify sales trends.
  • Ability to work remotely is a requirement of the role.
  • Ability to travel 20% annually is a requirement of the role.

  • Eligibility to participate in an incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program and plan. Any award depends on a variety of factors including individual and organizational performance.
  • Performance guarantees may be applied to roles with highly incentivized compensation plans for a specified period of time to support a new hire's transition into the sales incentive plan.


Compensation is made up of a base salary, incentives, and/or other bonuses when applicable. This is a minimum range that can be increased based on performance and sales activity.

Salary Range:
Target compensation: $150k
