Full Job Description
Summary: The Rental Operations Manager is responsible for leading and expanding Simplex's rental business, with the Houston facility serving as the operational location. This role focuses on growing rental operations, increasing fleet utilization, strengthening customer relationships, and building a scalable and profitable rental division. The role requires a hands-on, technically capable leader who can support equipment preparation, troubleshooting, and field service while working directly with customers to develop and expand business opportunities.

Duties:
• Oversee organization, safety, and efficiency of the Houston facility
• Lead day-to-day rental operations with a focus on safety, efficiency, and scalability
• Manage rental fleet readiness, maintenance, and lifecycle planning
• Coordinate equipment preparation, delivery, and return logistics
• Perform hands-on troubleshooting, testing, and repair of rental equipment
• Maximize fleet utilization and ensure equipment reliability
• Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with all applicable safety and regulatory requirements.
• Drive growth of the rental business through new and existing customer relationships
• Identify market opportunities and expand rental offerings
• Partner with sales and leadership to execute growth strategies
• Build long-term customer partnerships through responsiveness and technical support
• Provide technical guidance and solution-based support to ensure high-quality service from inquiry through project completion
• Respond to customer needs, including after-hours support as required
• Recruit, train, and develop technicians as the business grows
• Lead with a hands-on approach to operations and support
• Establish accountability and performance standards
• Build a team capable of supporting a growing rental operation
• Use ERP and rental systems to generate quotes and process orders
• Track fleet utilization, contracts, and billing accurately

Requirements
• Education and/or experience equivalent to a 4-year degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Operations Management, or a related technical field.
• Experience in equipment rental, industrial services, or related field
• Load bank or power generation equipment experience preferred
• Proven ability to grow a business or operation
• Strong customer communication and relationship skills
• Experience using ERP or rental management systems
• Proven track record leading multi-discipline operations (materials, logistics, quality, facilities, safety).
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing, safety systems, and operational best practices.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Self-directed, resilient, and comfortable managing multiple priorities.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to create structure, drive accountability, and lead through change.
