Position Type: Full-Time Executive Leadership (Approximately 95% Administrative)
Compensation: Salary commensurate with experience.
Position Summary
The Regional Medical Director (RMD) serves as the senior physician leader for an assigned region of approximately 10-20 outpatient practice locations, depending on geographic area and practice size. Reporting directly to the Chief Medical Officer, the RMD partners with physicians, Advanced Practice Providers (APPs), practice administrators, clinical managers, and executive leadership to advance clinical quality, operational performance, provider engagement, patient experience, and strategic growth. This is a leadership-focused role requiring approximately 95% administrative responsibilities with regular travel throughout the assigned region.

Primary Responsibilities
- Provide executive leadership to physicians, APPs, and multidisciplinary clinical teams.
- Promote evidence-based medicine and standardized clinical pathways.
- Improve clinical quality, patient safety, and patient experience.
- Partner with operational leadership to optimize access, efficiency, and practice performance.
- Support physician recruitment, onboarding, mentoring, engagement, and retention.
- Advance organizational initiatives related to value-based care, population health, and quality improvement.
- Utilize clinical, operational, and financial data to drive continuous improvement.
- Lead strategic initiatives while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and innovation.
- Develop future physician leaders and strengthen organizational leadership.
Qualifications
Required
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO).
- Current unrestricted medical license or eligibility for licensure in Georgia.
- Minimum of seven years of progressive physician leadership experience.
- Demonstrated success leading physicians, Advanced Practice Providers, clinical staff, and administrative teams.
- Experience overseeing multiple ambulatory practice locations.
- Strong communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills.
- Willingness to travel throughout the assigned region.
Preferred
- Experience with value-based care, population health, ACOs, Medicare Advantage, and commercial quality programs.
- Knowledge of ambulatory practice operations, revenue cycle management, and physician performance improvement.
- Graduate leadership education (MBA, MHA, MMM, CMPE, or equivalent) is a plus.
